View Full Version : Would you go to Superbowl?

Kind of off topic, but here goes!
Last week, Osama Bin Hidin' made threats of an imminent attack on the US. This week, his #2 sycophat, I'll Sukharry (sp?) made the same threat. Is the Superbowl too dangerous a target?
Would you go if the 'Boys were in it?
What should be our response it they did attack Detroit?

Of course you go, otherwise the terrorists win. They want to scare you away from attending cool events like this.
Re attacking France, tsk tsk, remember France has nuclear weapons and while it would lose any war against the US, it would take out oh maybe 50 million Americans at least.

I wouldn't go if it was the safest place on Earth.
Thousands of dollars is way too much for a spectator event no matter how good the game is.

This thread makes no sense. Bin Laden, yeh. OK. They pulled off a good one in 2001.
How much security do you think they will have at this SB. Yep. Safe. That is not the point.
I will tell you why I would never go to another SB. I went once in 1986. Pats versus the Bears. We were destroyed. And that is making a mild statement. It was a joke. Oh my, it was a bad day. And to make matters worse, we were chased out of the stadium by Bear fans saying how bad we were, etc. etc, etc.
When you go to a game at your home stadium, win or lose you suffer together. When you go to a mixed stadium, well, it gets a bit more difficult. Win, wonderful. Lose, well it really stinks because you have about 25,000 people telling you what bums you are. Ouch.
Bin Laden compared to that feeling -- piece of cake. Bid Laden is a fool and nothing for us to be afraid of. Those in government use it as a tool to make us fear and put up with nonsense.
Me I will take Bid Laden face to face rather than 25,000 Bear fans. Piece of cake.

Going into Detroit in itself is a trek worth fearing, regardless of an enima attack.
If they did destroy parts of Detroit? How would you know?

If our genius president would read the security briefs he receives, then I would really have no problem.
I'm glad the fear tactics we have to put up with haven't worked on me what so ever. I still travel, and the last thing on my mind when I wake up in the morning is dying.

I don't think they are scare tactics. Believe it or not we are at war. How do you defeat an enemy that does not fear dying? That was one of the things that made me a little apprehensive when I was in Iraq. I was willing to fight for my country, but I did not have a death wish. People forget that President Clinton had Osama Bin Laden twice. He gave the order for the special forces unit to stand down because he did not want women and children to be killed from the possible cross fire between the Taliban and American forces. I bet he wishes he could have a do over, but the media doesn't seem to crucify him like they do Bush.

If some one gave me tickets you bet I would go only thing that would keep me away is the price of the tickets. As for terrorist I'm not going to allow threats to deter me from enjoying life.

driving around detroit is much more dangerous than osama. i went to the denver/skins super bowl. had a great time, especially the week leading up to the game with all the parties.it was cool. you can't hide in a shell, and there is no idiot like osama gonna scare me away from doing what i want to do.now driving around detroit might scare me away. i spent a week there and every night we went to canada

You're comparing the REAL effects of a terrorist organization to the outcome of a friggin game?? Let me assure you that you are probably the only one in the US who has the arrogance to say that they are clowns or a joke. I wonder if you're really Bill Clinton posting on this board...or maybe Hillary.:laugh2: I bet those 3000 people who were pulvarized in the towers would say you're nuts for making a comment like " Those in government use it as a tool to make us fear and put up with nonsense". Might want to think about actually watching something besides football every once in a while. As for whether I'd go...No. Like one poster said: the cost is ridiculous, plus it's in Detroit. Any of you guys who have never been to Detroit, you'll understand that statement if you ever HAVE to go:ralph: .

First off, thanks for your service to this great country. Regardless of my stance on the war, I will always support the troops.
Clinton did mess that up.
This really isn't the place for us to vent our political oppinions, but....
I dont mean to sound like Michael Moore or those guys, but it is a bit absurd as to what the media portrays is going on right now. The whole code orange stuff, it's just crazy at times. You can't tell me there aren't fear tactics involved here..
Yes I do realize we are at war, but it's just my oppinion that there really is no sensible reason as to why we are doing what we are doing. It's been proven that Iraq had no direct link to Al Qaida, in fact, we have funded Osama Bin Laden more than Iraq has...and there is NO WAY you can convine me that Iraq was a direct threat to us...
In light of that, I understand the danger our troops are in in Iraq...and again, just because I don't have alot of faith in our current leadership does not mean I do not have faith in our troops and dont fully sopport them

No, I agree with you. Don't let terrorist stop you from enjoying your life. But if the terror warning is on red just be careful. Do not grow complacent. The problem with a lot of people is that they don't think something like 911 can ever happen again. If the government gives a warning, they are not trying to frighten us, just get the emergency teams and law enforcement on high alert. I encourage you to be critical of our President, just realize the Democrats have goofed up too. Too many people bash Bush, but never redicule Clinton. Both have made mistakes.
As far as Iraq is concerned they had no waepons of mass destruction. The troops knew we were going out there about 7 months before we left. I personally felt we should have gone to Iran instead. They really are a threat and sponsor more terrorist organizations than any other country in the world. Now we are so bogged down in Iraq that the Iranians are getting a little froggy. The world wants the US to get involved but we can't.
