In the game against Philly when JJ sprained his ankle I thought he would be back soon! After spraining my ankle this past weekend (20th time) I realized that these things take longer to heal than I initially thought. It hurt immediately for about ten minutes and the pain subsided.... Twenty minutes later it swelled up as big as a softball! As of today it's black & blue!!! These things are killers!!!!!

Especially a high ankle sprain which is what Jones had. Normally on a lower ankle sprain these guys will get taped up and continue to play but with the high ankle sprain all you can do is rest it.

Don't walk on it before it's ready.
I'd stay off of it almost entirely for at least a week or two.

I have sprained and broken my ankles many, many times and once I rushed back to walking and sport and it took alot longer to heal. I'm talkin a year or so. And it never really went back to normal.

20 times over 37 year period isn't too bad considering all the organized football, softball and flag football.......

Torn acl and mcl too..... maybe I'm injury prone or just wreckless???

I kept it iced and stayed off of it all day Sunday and Monday. No limp today but mucho swelling...... No doctor visit for me!

Never had a high ankle sprain... I played on similar sprains to the one I got Saturday... maybe that explains the weakness????

I know I played with a sprain many times as well as dislocation of fingers, once I got to the varsity team in high school the coach was quick to tell us that playing with pain is part of the game so if you wanted to keep your starting job you saw the trainer and got taped up before practice and games.

Suck it up and get back in there. BP doesnt like"soft" players on his team. If you cant practice or make it to camp you will probably get cut. Rookies cant miss these kind of mini camps

It is called life in the NFL and BP is not the only coach who expects players to go out and play when injured it comes with the job.

I'm fine with needles and have had plenty a shot, along with ankle sprains in football (played LB and OG in an offense where we pulled 75% of the time) basketball, and broke my ankle twice sliding into 3rd base in baseball.

Ankle sprains arent that fun but anti-inflammatories and aspirin worked great for me along with a very tight taping job. But rest it for a good week as soon as possible.

I've had plenty of shots and pain injections (cortizone sp) and I can do without them if possible. The cortisone injections are the worst. The first 8 hours is a bad but after that it's smooth sailing! The last one I got lasted for 6 months!

I agree cortizone is thick and one heck of a burning sensation. 1st time I had a cortizone injection I told the doctor "that's not to bad" he told me give it a couple of min. he was right that is one nasty shot.
