-- People have brought up the HOF since he retired, but he never really addressed it seriously until the last month. He was always reluctant to discuss it because anything he said would take away from all the great players who were already a member of the HOF.
-- No bones about it, now that it has happened, it's the greatest individual athletic achievement of his career. Humbling to be with all the players who defined football.
-- Certain people deserve to be recognized for what they meant to his career. The "Troy was good because played with a lot of great players" argument, totally agrees. Says you'd be hard pressed to find any QB in the HOF who didn't play with great players. Irvin, Emmitt, Stepnoski, Allen, Haley, Novacek, Woodson, Norton Jr., Nate Newton, no question were talented football team in the early 90's and helped him have success.
-- Very blessed throughout career to always have great coaches. Even as a kid. The coaches who coach the 8, 9 or 10 year olds often have a bigger impact than coaches at high school or junior high level. Credits UCLA Coach Terry Donahue, helped him become a man. Jimmy Johnson, not only for Troy's success but the team's success because of his superior ability to evaluate players and set the tempo. Thinks Jimmy was mostly reponsible for that 3rd Super Bowl. Norv Turner, Ernie Zampesi, great offensive minds.
-- Was criticized at his last retirement speech for going an hour and a half so promised himself he wouldn't make this HOF speech his retirement speech, so cutting it short. :D
-- Acknowledges the Jones family. Knows he was the very first pick with Jerry Jones taking over. To always be associated with Jerry & Jimmy, and their first player chosen, and that new period in time for the Cowboys, is very meaningful to him. The best thing that any QB who has any aspirations to be successful to have is an owner willing to spend the $$ and do what it takes to win. Thinks there are a lot of owners in the NFL who talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. Jerry Jones is one of the few owners who will do anything it takes to win. Helped him sleep at night knowing Jerry was doing everything he could to win.
-- Lastly, thanks all 39 voters, even the ones who didn't vote for him. :D
