Well, as much as I hate it, looks like the Pittsburgh Steelers are finally members of the five trophy club. Membership now includes:
Dallas Cowboys
San Francisco 49ers
Pittsburgh Steelers

This trophy belongs to Bill Levy and his crew, I won't be recognizing Pitt as having more than 4 rings

I hear ya. . . and the worse part of it is Pitt has a strong foundation for future runs. Let's hope Dallas can build up the OLine and Kicker and get us back in the hunt!

Yes, the refs made some bad calls, but Pitt made the plays when they had to, Seattle didn't. They had opps, but didn't take advantage of them, even w/o the Refs giving their nudges...
Pitt got their 5, but the question is who will be next to get that 6th.

Everytime Seattle got something going they got something called to kill momentum. the invisible holding penalty, DJacks TD being taken away. Heck even the penalty on Hass for tackling the ball carrier set Pitt up for the trick play.

But they had two other shots at the end zone after that DJack play and he was open but the ball was caught out of bounds both times.
I'm like this, the players have to overcome the officials. They didn't. They also got away from what worked for them to get them to the SB. They were passing way too much. When they went back to it, it was actually too late, IMO.

Agree....5 Lombardi's is 5 Lombardi's......the value hasn't changed. We simply need to be the first to get #6.

yeah, but give us one or two OL in the offseason and I am no way afraid of playing Pittsburgh. They are not impressive in any way. Give Seattle a WR that could catch and a ref crew that didn't bet against them and they win the game. That was a weaka** suckfest of a SB. Both offenses were lame. Alexander was lame in a big game...again.
Why does Holmgren lose his sack in the 4th and punt the ball with 5 minutes left?
I want either team next year, they're both lame and deserve a severe drubbing after forcing us to watch them instead of good teams play in the SB.

She has a fine grasp on the nitty gritty. Yup the Steelers won. They did it the old fashioned way. Scoring more points than they gave up. Can the Boys do this is the $94,000 question now. It isn't a few lineman, a FS and a QB and some WRs. Cause we can't get all that in one season. So what will Bill do to get us back to competing. Beating the skinz, iggles and gints home and away. Wining more than half our road games. The future is now ladies and gentlemen.

That simply isn't true. Seattle clearly out played Pittsburgh in the first half.

If two of them are the niners and steelers I am not. Dallas has been there 8 times, I wish we had more.

SF is not one of the 3 greatest franchises ever. Outside of one 15 year stretch from 1981-1995, they have done virtually nothing in their franchises history. Pittsburgh and Dallas were both great from the late 60s-early 80s and throughout the 90s.
Hell, Miami has been better more often than SF. And lets not forget, SF bought their 5th title in 1995, and still needed a lot of luck and bad calls to ebat Dallas.

I don't have a problem with it.
They're a great franchise.
But this game was lousy.....Pitt won the game....but had lots of help. Hey, it happens.
I don't think Pitts will be around as long as people think. Especially, if there's no more salary cap. This may be the last hurrah for Pitt if there's no cap.

I like your thinking. :)
We need more playmakers like we used to have in the 70's and 90's. Another smart offseason of FA pickups and drafts picks and Dallas will be representing the NFC again.

This club quickly got crowded by a factor of two. I'm now ready for the 'Boys to break some new ground and open up the "Elite Six" with a huge Cowboy neon sign that reads:
NO VACANCY
I suppose that if there's any consolation to come out of this game today, it's seeing Bettis go out on top in the manner he did. He's a class act both on and off the field. But because of my deep hatred for the Steelers, I just wish that it had been with another team instead.

EXACTLY. . .
I take exception with one of the posters that said Pitt is light years ahead of us in our chase. I think this Dallas Cowboy team was one or two players away from the big kahuna (which as we all know is one tasty burger).
Thw whole league knows Dallas is on the cusp once again. I honestly think we'll take our 6th first.

I honestly think that had Flo not been injured, we'd have won our division.
We may have been in Detroit.
We're really not that far away.

Pittsburgh won this game even with the bad calls. They absolutely dominated Seattle.
Seattle had more net yards, more first downs, and more time of possession.
The only thing that was dominating was the steady stream terrible towels that were mysteriously launched from the zebra's pocket on almost every significant Seattle offensive play.

It seems to me that Dallas got no respect, they kept hyping up pittsburgh and how they would be in the record books for winning their 5th superbowl like nobody else had ever done it. This was one of the most biased superbowls I've ever watched, from the media to even John Madden and his monotone commentary.
At least Dallas still holds the record for most appearances, and hopefully can add to that total within the next few years. Hopefully they win a record 6th championship in the near future as well.

Don't worry about PIT- NE & Jax & Cincy (if Palmer comes back) will kick the Stealers a's all over the field next year- there will be no repeat-book it- this coming from the man who predicted they would win this one months ago-well, they "won" it.

Seattle did, but they kept getting called back. DJack's TD, worst offensive PI call ever. Bobby Engrams catch near the goal line that got called back by a phantom holding call.
Everytime Seattle made a play, they got whistled for a penalty.
An illegal block on by Hasslebeck?

The Steelers were hardly impressive. Ben had the lowest QB rating to ever win a SB. They made the 2 biggest plays and that was that.
1.INT when it was 14-10
2.Randle El's TD.

The so called FRANCHISE QB's pretty much stank it up. Stevens dropped so many balls it was truly pathetic. Alexander did not look as bad as I thought he might- not bad really, but nothing spectacular or really looking like a MVP should. Polamolu did not shine; Jones ate Porters lunch all day. All in all a pretty sad game and the WORST overall officiating of any SB ever.
