Wow, I'm shocked at this. Working for Al Davis again? After the way he was treated last time? Either he's just a really nice guy, or he's a total sucker IMO.

Nobody else would even talk to him, isn't like he had another choice.

Wasn't he doing front office work though? I don't think he was isolated from the league altogether

Edit: Senior VP of Football Operations and Development for the NFL

Why would he want to go from that back to coaching for Al Davis?!

Why would he want to go from that back to coaching for Al Davis?!He loved being a Head Coach of an nfl team and the Raiders is his only opportunity. Seems like an easy decision despite having to work for the Devil.

I wish him the best of luck, he definately has the talent on the offensive side of the ball at least to do something. Great player and a classy guy, he really bailed Al Davis out here.

I wonder if Jerry and the rest of the owners treat Al like the senile grandpa in the owners meetings. Everyone gives him a hand when he walks up to the table, never shows any blatant disrespect, but behind closed doors, they're all talking about how Al smells like he hasn't showered in a few days or how he keeps referring to his current coach as Tom Flores.

If I was the HOF tackle, Al Davis would have had to kiss my a** for me to even think about going back to Oakland with the way he showed Art Shell the door after actually WINNING games.

I have no problems with Art Shell. I hope he does well with the Raiders. It's good to see him get another chance coaching them, especially as an ex-Raider player.

I guess that because he has not been offered another HC job since his last stint with the Raiders this seemed like his best chance to get back on the circuit again.

I think it's a bad move by Shell though and he is likely to regret it.

Hes got stuff to work with. I dont like Jordan so much as a runner. But hes got a high draft pick. Moss is great. Collins, how much more does he have left. They have a decent line if I recall, dont they have Gallery? I like that guy.

In all, I dont know what shell can do there, what could anyone do there. I dont know why they suck, I really haven't watched them that much or with any interest.

I suppose any job coaching is better then no job if thats what you wanna do. Sounds like he left a cush job withthe NFl for this one. Thats stepping out on a limb. Good luck with the gig, hope things work out well for Shell and the Radiers.

wouldn't you have loved to listen to that phone call that Davis made to Shell asking him to come back?

After carefull considers I thinks this is a good moves for the league witch betters race relations and harmony. Equal oportunities affirmative action types can't complaint on this one.

I hope he do better this time than before he did.

Wish he was our coach...be it offensive line coach, or head coach.
