Great Kicking coach wish he had never left.

He was never going to come back here while Parcells was here. They did not see eye to eye.

No, he was a kicking coach who was hyped by the Dallas media who had nothing else to write about. Look around the league. Most teams bring in streams of undrafted free agent kickers and develop them. Just like we did.

The one time we actually brought in a quality free agent at punter (Gowin) -- he actually got WORSE under Hoffman.

And he got better when he went to another team? And btw, isn't strange that our Kickers have gotten Progressively worse under BP regime? Gowin was brought in by BP if you remember.

Sorry, under BP, his QB choices, Kicker Choices and OL choices have lot to be desired. While he has done great in other areas, those three positions have been average at best.

I was about ready to say the same thing.

Ha we will never hear the end of it.

And this was kind of pointless on ATL, Todd was already a good kicker, ( even though he got his kicked blocked in the TB game), Hoffman wont really do much.

But Hoffman developed Gowin into a good punter the first time around. Gowin and John Jett should give Hoff half of those FA paychecks they signed.

Did he? Why didn't Gowin do better when he was away from Hoffman and worse when he got back then?

Half their paychecks? No offense but exactly how hard is it to punt a freaking football every half hour?

:jerk:

yeah, they were kicking studs to begin with

face it, you get what you pay for...a crappy kicker

let's just invest big bucks in Ryan Longwell and forget Hoffman?

Gowin had injury problems when he came back the second time.

Please stop with the Hoffman stuff. He had a hand in 2 good kickers in his time here, Boniol and Cunningham. Of the top 5 FG % seasons this team had in Hoffman's tenure, 2 were Boniol's, 2 were Cunningham's, and 1 was Eddie Murray's, a veteran free agent. If you take away Boniol, Cunningham and Murray, the rest of our kickers made 183/263 FGs, 69.6 percent.

Give credit to him for Boniol(81/93, 87.1%) and Cunningham(75/94, 79.8%), but also here during his period of employment were Ruzek(5/11,45.5%), Willis(45/64, 70.3%), Elliot(26/39, 66.7%), Seder(36/53, 67.9%), Hilbert(11/16, 68.8%) and Cundiff(55/74, 74.3%) as well.

I'm not saying he never did anything, but he's hardly the magician some people make him out to be, and most teams seem to do pretty well or no worse without a kicking coach.

Ok, wasn't Gowin a pretty good pickup before he came to Dallas?

And NE when they got Adam Vinetari were so sure that he was a UDFA? Sometimes you get lucky, but more often than not Steve Hoffman delivered with unkown kickers more often than not.

So lets not pretend that somehow Steve never did a good job since he is not with Cowboys.

I'm not saying that, just saying spend money on the kicker situation and you don't need Hoffman...simple
