I saw on ESPN.com's main page that Kiper has an article about the 'Boys being most likely to pick up a safety w/ the 1st pick.

I'm not asking anyone to post the article, but anyone who is an insider, can you just tell me if he thinks we will draft a S like Ko Simpson w/ the 18th pick, or if we have any plans of trading up the likes of Huff. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here's what Mel had to say. He's projecting McNeill for the Cowboys right now:

The Cowboys need to improve at safety, but they are getting old at wide receiver as well. Do you see them going after a safety or Ohio State wide receiver Santonio Holmes? -- Mark, Tiffin, Ohio
I don't know if Holmes will still be there when Dallas picks because he should be the first wide receiver off the board. Dallas also needs a free safety, so someone like Ko Simpson would be a good pick. Dallas also needs a right tackle (someone like McNeill) and an inside linebacker. Dallas will be able to go in a number of directions in the first round when it picks 18th overall.

Monumental revelation, thanks Mel.

Kiper is a weak draft guy. I continually find drafnicks that put together better mock drafts by having better sources and using some common logic. Where Kiper excels is he has a great deal of information on just about every player available. That's why he excels as an analyst on draft day because when say the Packers draft a guy from North Carolina A&T in the 6th round, he's got good info on what the scouts think his positives and negatives are along with his career stats and bio.

Remember, Kiper is the same guy that thought Mike Williams was the best player in last year's draft. And when Merrill Hoge disagreed with him, he basically thought Hoge was a complete idiot (okay, so Kiper wasn't too far off :)

It still depends on what they do in FA (which is why Kiper saying that Dallas will "almost certainly" go after a safety in the first round is plain stupid)......but they have bigger needs at OLB and O-Line than safety right now. Also, the stock of safeties usually goes way down come draft day. Yet, Kiper always picks a bunch of safeties to go in the first round every season.

I've never liked how Mel's "Big Board" moves up and down like an elevator.

...I cant see the 'Boys going for a DB i the 1st...that would put 3 1st round picks and a high priced FA in the starting rotation...thats too many high priced players for one area of the team...regardless what transpires with the CBA

Thanks guys.

I think we should go w/ a O-lineman or Holmes in the 1st too. I guess I was just hoping that there was a chance we would trade up to get Huff.

I think the "Goose's" draft board is the best of any I have seen over the years! I would go with his picks more than all the other guys put together!:)

Fans are paying for that. If it doesn't change people lose interest. That's actually a basic marketing principle for anyone selling any form of rankings (e.g., university rankings in US News and World Report) - if there is not constant change then the product won't sell.

The funny part is that the title of the article links us to Ko Simpson but, his mock has us taking McNeil.........duuhhh

Wait until after this weekend.

I predict no less than five new prospects based solely off combine performances.

As far as his top 100 players, Gosselin is the best out there. He gets an extraodinary amount of players in his top 100 correct. However, his mock draft accuracy is average at best.
