My point is, this might be a tough offseason for Cowboys fans to digest, along with Skins fans. I never knew about all these "cap adjustments" which clearly benefit Philadelphia.

they always had more cap room than most teams...so what will change now...nothing, they will still be chaep.
It worked for awhile, and they had good teams, but not anymore.

I doubt it. JJ and Stephen are the masters of the cap. We have 22.5 million to spend.

More money to spend doesn't always equal the best TEAM put together.....look at the Redskins for God's sake! They always spend a ton of money on some big name FAs, but where has that gotten them?

Philly is a cheap organization. They may have more money than Dallas, but they probabably won't spend it all. They had the money to keep Jeremiah Trotter before his first release, but they let him go. Same with Corey Simon and Derrick Burgess.

The Eagles have always been in good cap shape because Lurie is conservative. He finally spent big money on Kearse and T.O. and it got him nothing. I always hear Philly fans complaining about the extra money they don't spend. It will be interesting to see what everyone will do.

Cap money has never been a problem for the Eagles, and they are always relatively quite on the FA market...... Except when they went out and signed TO and Kearse, and look how well that turned out! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:
Why expect anything different this year?

So with all of that cap money who do you anticipate that the Eagles will be looking for as FA and the draft (Other Eagles Fans feel free to chime in).
Bentley is the word on the net, and Barber was inked yesterday. After that ?
Personally, I think the Eagles still need a RB, perhaps Mike Anderson would be a nice fit.
A WR, to compliment LJ and Reggie.
Some line depth on both sides. Some youth at the LB position to develop would be nice.

When has money spent on FA's by ANY team affected the Cowboys. The more they spend it seems the less they produce. Just ask the Redskins.
The ONLY, yes I say ONLY way the Eagles will ever GET(not win) I say GET a SB trophy is if they take some or all that extra money and buy the SB. Like the Stealers did. Otherwise... philly will never get a SB win. Book it.

Well quite honestly that really worked out well! It did. TO produced, Kearse produced.

Eagles Management is frugal; hence we have money to spend on the FA. Will we spend it ....hahahahaha --Just wait and see! My friends you can't base your biases on what You've seen the Eagles GM do in the past.
Now I didn't read into what mcnabbmcnow was saying like many of you seem to have done. I don't believe he intended to suggest that big name FA playmakers who want to play for teams with large cap money will automatically win games ...heck TO showed us that's not automatic! From my perspective, he's saying we have greater opportunities to go into the FA wage battle with full metal jackets.
Know this ...if the Eagles want a player because they believe he is a good fit, or a solution to last years injury prone team -- they'll spend the denaro!
That's not saying any more or less about your team. Besides, the FA isn't open until 12:01 Saturday. Put away your knives, Let's see who's cheap and who's frugal.
BTW, I thought it was mighty "frugal" for Dallas to hold onto Glover's bonus money before another team snatched him up.

Here are the players I expect the Eagles to look at in free agency:
C LeCharles Bentley (will sign)
C Kevin Mawae
WR David Givens
WR Joe Jurevicius
OLB Will Witherspoon
RB Mike Anderson
DT Rocky Bernard (unless price gets ridiculous)
POSSIBLY...DE Darren Howard.

They will have over $20 million available to negotiate new contracts or sign players to extensions.Same can be said for Dallas.

Hmm... Interesting.
No interest in a guy like Koren Robinson or Randle-El ?
DE I think will be a drafted position for the Eagles. Mawae seems unlikely to me. Witherspoon could come cheaper than most expect also. Bernard doesnt fit the Eagles D to me.
But thanks for the reply.

I should have included Randel El. I think they like Givens more, but I hear the Browns might spend a fortune on him cause of Romeo Cronell. Eagles won't go for Robinson..they've had it with questionable character guys. Steve Hutchinson would be another possibility, but hard to imagine them spending that much on the off. line if they sign Bentley. I could see the following offseason:
Bentley
Garcia
S. Barber
W. Witherspoon or David Givens
M. Anderson

I never knew about all these "cap adjustments" which clearly benefit Philadelphia. It makes no difference, Lurie is thrifty and won't spend it. I guarantee you they go into the season with more than $10mil of cap room. You know, to resign existing players, or at least that's what they always tell Eagles' fans.
:laugh2:
$20-$25M under cap are Eagles - and that includes TO Money.
If They want to screw TO they don't cut him now. Trade him right up to draft. They can surely get a 3rd or 4th for him.
If not cut him June 1st.
Forgot about Garcia. They say he is as good as signed.
Good Luck this season.
Oh darn...and just one season too late...LOL
That would be worth paying for...A TO and Jeff Garcia reuion...Pay-per-view...maybe...LOL Talk about a revenue source. There ya go!!!

What you talkin about Willis? Most of the commentary here has been correctly directed to mcnabbmcnow's stated premise,,, that Cowboy fans will have a tough time digesting the "newly found" fact that Philthy has lots of cap space. Obviously, nobody here was caught offguard or is suffering any additional angst. Philthy will do what they always do: spend conservatively, field a good team, and fall short of winning the SuperBowl. :D

Phillys been cheap in the past, I think we can all agree on that, but I am afraid to say this year, I don't think they'll be as cheap...........
Remember alot of bickering and griping from the philly players last year was because philly had extra money, and outside of McNabb, they wouldn't pay anyone. That is what caused alot of those problems. The players felt as though if they have the money, give it to us, we've won alot of games in the past, and even won the NFC championship......reward us.
Phillys management didn't want to pay them, so it caused alot of bickering and fighting amongst the players.
I think Philly has learned thier lesson, I think they will spend the money, even if they think the can save a buck, just to say to their players "Hey, we've spent the money, we don't have any left, go out there and play"

There are only a few players (FA) I worry about Philly getting.
LaVar Arrington: I think he'd be a great fit in Philly's blitzing scheme.
Edge James: He would provide a lift to Philly's run game. He's a decent receiver as well.
Darren Howard: I'd hate to see him and Kearse as bookends.

Looking at the article its east to see it is incorrect. Eagles having over 20 million does not throw them up to #2 in the league cap space wise, Dallas has around 22.5 million to spend. It also says Dallas gains no money in cap adjustments so somebody needs to email the author and ask him about the 9.6 million in bogus LTBE incentives in Rivera and Fergusons contracts that voids with the new CBA

Huh???? That's got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen written here. Of COURSE YOU CAN BASE your "biases"?????(read opinions/expectations) on what they've done in the past. While not always correct, past behavior is the BEST PREDICTOR of future behavior.

Mike Anderson is the one FA as a Cowboy Fan I cringe at Philly getting.Don't. He's a Denver back. Like every other Denver back his numbers will decline elsewhere. Portis hasn't come close to matching his Denver production in Washington. Given that Anderson couldn't produce in Denver as much as Portis, you shouldn't have much to worry about too much about him.

He's right guys, don't you realize that EVERY free agent is signing there this offseason? Articles and reports link every big name to Philly...Both Bentley and Mawae, Law, Randle El, Edgerin James, Archuleta, Arrington, Hope....we have no chance, nor does the rest of the league and we better concede to defeat now!
In fact reports have stated that TO and the Eagles organization have kissed and maked up so he's staying put!
The bottom line is that Philly is going 19-0, McNabb is the best QB in the league, and Andy Reid will be coach of the year! This blows!

Oh no, Here you go! It's comical that you're putting the cart before the horse! You have no idea what draft Picks the Eagles will make or what FA acquisitions (other than Shawn Barber) we'll make.
Speaking of windows closing, I'm still baffled over the Cowboys allowing Glover to get away ...now that's a window that has clamped shut!
