Mon, 13 Mar 2006 18:09:56 -0800
Adam Schefter, of the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/77/nfl">NFL Network, reports the Philadelphia Eagles (http://www.kffl.com/team/29/nfl) must make a decision on WR Terrell Owens (http://www.kffl.com/player/1608/nfl) by Tuesday, March 14. I don't like the guy one bit but with that said, I think he would make us better by leaps and bounds.

will they just let him go or w/e so we can see where he lands, preferably here:) We need that game-changing WR that puts up 125 yd 2 TD games every time he gets on the field, and gives it his all whenever he is on that field!!!!!!!!!

If teams are playing hardball they could decide to retain TO, Keep him off street free agency. They are $20M over cap with his money fully accounted for already in Cap.

On a different note, what does the relative silence of Rosenhaus over the past couple weeks say about all this? I would have thought that he would be hogging every camera he could find right now. Maybe this means there's a deal thats already been struck and being low key is part of that deal.

I think you misunderstand what their motivation might be...its a longshot, but I heard it discussed on the radio with someone (I think from TSN)
the motivation for the Eagles to PAY the 5 million would be that perhaps a team (Chiefs, Broncos perhaps) have told the Eagles "yeah we want him, we'll give you something (say a 3rd rd pick, maybe a 2nd) but we dont want to tarde for his current contract...if you eat the bonus, we will make the deal"
that way the Eagles 1) get something for him and 2) he cant go to Dallas
its all specualtion, but it is a possibility

The Eagles have to trade or release Terrell Owens by Tuesday.
A trade looks highly unlikely at this point. The Chiefs and Cowboys look like the two favorites to take him on. The Broncos may not have the cap room.

The only thing that would argue against that strategy is Lurie is notoriously cheap. Still, it would work out well for a deal between the Broncos and Eagles. Eagles got lots of cap space to absorb the cap hit and the Broncos have an extra first rounder so they probably aren't too worried about giving up a first-day pick for a potential difference-maker.

We went into last 2 seasons with $5M unspent - Lurie is a Bazillionaire and with $25M in cap (including TO) - he's going to be hardpressed to find enough player to spend it all on anyway.

So in Nors logic:
Wednesday - 5 million
End of March - 2.5 million
June 2 - 15 million bonus
Total this year: 22.5 million, eagles owner really shows up TO and Drew. TO miserable about his 22.5 million dollar 2006 payoff.

Here's something interesting. I went to the eagle's website to see if they had anything on TO. Nothing. BUT, i went to their roster page and they still had TO listed, however, when you click his name, it takes you to the NFL.com player page which means they have removed him from the team website. I would think that would be a clear sign that his is gone and soon.

They could always cut TO after June 1!!!!!!!!
We went into last 2 seasons with $5M unspent - Lurie is a Bazillionaire and with $25M in cap (including TO) - he's going to be hardpressed to find enough player to spend it all on anyway.
Think outside the box guys!
You should try in the box once in a while

Fosier Got $5M
Randle El got $12M
What do you think TO gets in free agency?
Hate to say it, but the man is right.
Randle-El is half the WR that T.O. is. I agree with all of you, T.O. has a ****ty attitude, and he's hurt 2 teams, but look at it this way, like Emmitt said about Irvin "this isn't the life hall of fame"....yes TO's decisions have directly hurt his club, but as long as you have that much talent, SOMEONE is going to pay you to play. There is no denying he is a top 3 WR in the league.
You think TO takes anything less than $10mil signing bonus, and you are crazy. He will probably get more than Randle-El, and I'd hate to see us pay it out.
KobeEgan
03-14-2006, 12:15 AM
I'd give him a frking 20 mil signing bonus...guy has talent...although I am kind of afraid that he might tear the team apart, he hasnt had a coach like BP. I see TO actually behaving atleast halfway decent here
ChldsPlay
03-14-2006, 12:23 AM
Again, if one player can tear a team apart, it's a crap team anyway. The more time goes on, and the more I see the Iggles actions, the less I blame TO. Not his fault Donovan and the other guys are a bunch of choking babies. Not his fault Garcia isn't that good. I personally have no problem with players calling out their teammates. I think it should happen more often. Players need to stop whining and start taking their thrashings like men and either do something to shut it up, or just quit.

im looking at the ramifications of TO being a cowboy....do u know how this will effect our secondary? going up an top wr EVERYDAY? our players will SKYROCKET! now Tn and Ah and Rw will beable to cover very well...well, at least Tn and Ah, Rw will be vastly improved too...just think of it?
I'm thinking along these same lines too. Remember how Irvin and Deion used to go on about the same thing, how it made them so much better practicing everyday against one another?
Not to mention TO can learn how to avoid the horsecollar!:lmao2:
I know in the NBA there is a thing called Vet min spurs were abel to pick up former players for cheaper saleries like finely, nVE, etc
maybe they can pick TO up for some league minium? then later pay him more if it works out Only thing is convising TO to take less

Reports out of a few Philly radio stations right now indicate that the Eagles are rumored have come to the conclusion that they won't be able to trade T.O. for anything of great value and that they plan to release him within the hour. Papers should be at NFL HQ shortly after 3:00pm EST.

Yeah they will wait until the last minute and I think it is because they know where he is going. No team will want to take an immediate 5 mil hit then another 2.5 in June.
