View Full Version : Clayton--It'll be a month before TO signs..

According to Clayton last nite on ESPN (they had a special edition of The Blitz), he says TO wants big money, will NOT accept a contract with incentives, & is willing to wait a month or more before he signs. He will only sign if he gets a big contract. Clayton said it will be at least a month before TO signs anywhere.
Now, that's Clayton saying it, so take it for what it's worth. Interestingly, PFT also has that same comment up today--altho their "source" could also be Clayton.
He also said there's a good chance Key will end up back with the Cowboys.

Their speculation is about as good as sour IMO. I think TO wants to land somewhere, and if the money is riht, he'd sign tomorrow.

If this is so, then the Cowboys better have a plan in place for aquiring a legitimate WR. Because if TO don't come, we are screwed.

I don't think it will be a month before he signs. Like someone else already said, if a team "make him an offer he can't refuse", he'll sign within the next hour.

I think he will sign when someone gives him the right figure. I'm sure that includes a decent signing bonus which he gets to put in the bank immediately. Now I'm sure he's not exactly broke but if I were in the same position I'd be waiting for the biggest payday too.

That is pure BS. There is not one single team going to give T.O huge money. Not even Dallas. Clayton is saying what? If T.O does not get the contract he feels he deserves then he wont sign? What is he going to do? Sit out the year?
That would be cuttin his own throat. I just dont see that happening here. Correct me if Im wrong but I see the following.
Drew takes a look around at who really can afford T.O. He then see's these clubs digging in their heels on the money BECAUSE his boy is such a jack***. This is nobody's fault but his clients. He knows it and the bad thing is that all of these GM's know it. They have Drew and T.O's #. Its not the other way around.
I can see T.O signing w/ someone withing the next week or 2 at the most. It probably will be Dallas. As of right now, we are the only one who can afford him.
If Drew and T.O keep it up then just walk away Jerry. Go after Walker in GB. Give them a 2 and some $$ and call it good. I would love Walker here.

Just because he's willing to hold out a month or more doesn't mean it'll take that long to sign him. But considering the source, I'd say that T.O. signs with someone in the next 10 days and Keyshawn is not coming back.

No kidding, when did TO get leverage to start holding for money.:lmao2: This guy is already on a short leash, from what i have seen and heard the only ones in the running for his services are KC and Dallas. KC wants to offer a incentive laden contract, which he doesnt want, we dont know what Dallas will offer but im pretty sure its better than KC. He really doesnt have a choice. What is he going to do sit out a year, LOL thats would be career suicide.
i agree with u Dallas, I'd rather have Walker.

Yet instead of JJ and BP understanding that this is the same ole difficult, me first WR; they will allow him to control the situation. When will JJ and BP take control and lay it out to him and he can come to it or not. I hope he never wears the star. Some keep posting that unless we get TO we are screwed. It is absolutely laughable that people think that TO is the franchise.
I don't think the Cowboys franchise will be revoked if TO doesn't come. I also hear the comment that without TO we haven't won a playoff game in ten years--all because we didn't have TO. Does anybody really believe that TO was the missing piece that kept us from the playoffs? Does anybody really beieve we would have been in the playoffs ten straight years if we had TO on the roster?
Did TO put the 49ers in the playoffs? No. Did the Eagles make the playoffs before TO signed on with them? Yes. Was TO on the playing field when the Eagles won the playoff games and made it to the SB? No. Was he on the field for the SB? Yes. Did the Eagles win? No.
There isn't any one person the game. The fact he is making such outragous demands now reveals that he is determined to be in control. I know there will be dancing in the streets when he signs. Should something happens and JJ and BP wakes us and he doesn't sign then I will be dancing in the streets--alone.

Sorry, but we don't have the luxury of waiting that long, esp if Key signs on elsewhere quickly.

The longer Owens waits the more he is screwing himself out of more $$$ because more players will sign and teams will have less money to spend and then they have to save money for the Draft to sign the rookies. If Rosenhaus is smart he will sign Owens somewhere as soon as possible

Bingo!
If we really want Owens...Then it shouldn't take anywhere near that long.

Thats what i was thinking...but for a little dif reason
the longer he goes unsigned the more teams realize that nobody else really wants him and the further his cap number will go down i think...hes only hurting himself by not signing
