Question: Is the initial $5 million bonus a signing bonus? In other words, will it be spread out over three years? With a cap hit of $6.66 million this year?
That would make his yearly cap hit:
2006-2007, $6.66 million
2007-2008, $9.66 million
2008-2009, $8.66 million
Do I have that right?

TO making $6.66 million this year is just too perfect to be true.

His salaries could be guaranteed and prorated, too, if we ever want to lower his cap hit. But from the length and structure of his contract, it's apparent that the team thinks we'll have plenty of cap room to handle his cap hits over the next three years.

It looks like 2008 would be a good time to restructure if they want to keep him longer.

Yeah, it's not obvious that Dallas is going to be cap strapped any time soon. Not having to allocate $12-15 million in room for a QB will give you that luxury. Also, the roster is filling up with young players still in their initial rookie contracts.

Espically with the larger than expected raize in the CAP this and next year with the New CBA in place.
It should also give us some room to get out younger stars resigned in the future.
