John Abraham may finally have been traded to the team he was hoping, albeit not in the trade route that was expected.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Falcons, Broncos and Jets swung a three-way trade today in order to make the deal happen. The deal is also still be reviewed by the league office and all parties are waiting for approval.
If the trade is approved then the Falcons have traded their first-round pick, No. 15 overall, to Denver, who traded their first-rounder (No. 29) and two additional picks to Atlanta. Atlanta then sends the 29th pick of the draft to the Jets for Abraham. The Jets receive a draft pick two slots higher in the first round than the Seahawks were able to offer.
Abraham also told FOXSports.com several days ago that he had agreed to the financial parameters of a deal with the Falcons and insisted that was the primary team he wanted to play for.
Abraham also talked glowingly about the opportunity to play on a defense with the likes of fellow Pro Bowl DE Patrick Kerney as well as Pro Bowlers Keith Booking, DeAngelo Hall and Rod Coleman. He also balked at the idea of moving to the northwest to play in Seattle.
All three teams must get league approval before the trade becomes validated.

The Falcons D could be really scary. I see White, Jenkins, and Vick also getting better. Abraham is going to ask for the Georgia Dome as payment, though.

Wow, guess we have to wait and see what those 2 additional picks are, because right now it looks pretty stupid for everyone but the Broncos.
The Jets just get pick 29 for Abraham? But the Broncos got pick 15 somehow.
I'd have to think that those two other picks are somewhere in the 2 and 3 range or 2 and 4 range.

Does it seem like the Jets lost out on this did I read it right, or am I blind. They give up Abraham and the #15 pick, and Get a #29 in return.
This has to be wrong.

So what number was the pick they got from the foreskins? I think it was a 22. Denver might want to get those additional picks back. I don't see how we could really be in the mix if they want picks back. But it would be their #22 overall and a fourth to move up to our #18. I just don't see them wanting to give up more late rounders. #22 overall would be a good spot for us to drop down to, if we want Lawson or Carpenter.

The jets only gave up Abraham and got a 1st round pick (#29 overall)

You would think that is stupid, but it is the Jets.

Abraham and Kerney is quite the pass rushing duo.

The difference between #15 and #29 is an early second ounder. I think it is about #8 or #9 in the second.

No, the final results are as follows:
Jets gain the 29th pick in the draft and lose Abraham
Broncos gain the 15th pick in the draft and give up the 29th pick and two undisclosed draft picks.
Falcons gain Abraham and two undisclosed draft picks and give up the 15th pick in the draft.
Basically, the Falcons traded down with the Broncos and then traded their new pick for Abraham.

Falcons are the big winners in my mind.
Broncos are seemingly trading up for LenDale White but i'm not sure it is worth it in their system.

Thnx I read it wrong also. I was getting ready to get JJ on the phone and start yelling..... trade with the jets!

But Abraham wouldn't go to Seattle and wanted to go to ATL.
The Falcons didn't want to give up #15 just to beat the Seattle 31 so the traded down picked up more lower choices and gave the Jets the #29.
Sounds perfectly reasonable.

Reading it again, the Jets didn't give up anything but Abraham for the #29 overall. That is a good move. It looks like Atlanta gave up, in essence, a second for Abraham. Denver got a second round equivalent for two later round picks.
I think?

Rumor is the Broncos are trying to deal both their 1st round picks for a high 1st next year due to their CAP situation. How about Denver's 2 first round picks to Houston or San Francisco for next year's first?

if im Atlanta one of those 2 undisclosed picks better be a 2nd rounder. if not Denvers just made a helluva deal moving up to 15 from 29 for 2 undisclosed crappy picks.

I see 2 things from this. Tons of Mocks had the Falcons going after Jimmy Williams who may fall now, and Denver should definitely be trying to get out of that 22nd spot now.

I'm thinking Jerry should get on that phone, and sell Ellis and a 3 for that 29th pick. Either that, or get the Jets 35th pick in the second and for Ellis and a 2007 pick.
Either way, it's time to make some deals.

Broncos | Update on draft picks traded

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Atlanta Falcons acquired a third-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft from the Denver Broncos as part of the three-way trade that sent DE John Abraham to the Falcons and other draft picks to the Jets and Broncos.

Yeah only a pro bowler every year he was starter (besides the injured season of 2003)

I don't know about that. I understand what you are saying, but the Jets picked up another first round pick. They could either trade those two picks to the Texans for the top pick or get two quality first round players.
Another scenario could have them trading that first round pick for additional picks later on. Don't forget, they've lost a lot of players this offseason and haven't made a huge splash in FA.

Too bad we was rated the third to last worst QB in the league last year. It's all about popularity for certain positions. Hell, Matt Schuab can run the offense better than Vick

I'm on board with that...
18: Manny Lawson
29: Jason Allen
2nd Round: Jean-Gilles
3rd: WR Jennings
Or Ellis and our 18 for their 29 and second rounder. I'd keep my draft board the same, although we might end up with Wimbley or Carpenter. Starting to think Lawson won't last til the second, maybe not til pick 20.

That's just what I was thinking, Erik. I was wishing Dallas could have gotten in on that. It really does look pretty much like gravy for the Broncos IMO.
