I was surprised to hear him on one of our local Dolphins-intensive stations, but I think the fact that he was a 'Fins beat writer for the Miami Herald before going to Dallas has something to do with it. I would do a full bullet point-type review a la Trickblue except that Archer, who was on with WQAM's Orlando Alziguray this afternoon, did not really offer anything any of us who frequent this board haven't already read or heard, LOL.
However, there were a couple of interesting confirmations/discussion points:
- Archer did offer another confirmation that Clemson QB Charlie Whitehurst
has caught the eye of the club.
- He had his own recap of the Owens-Bledsoe phone conversation that Randy
Galloway had a column on today. Said that Bledsoe indeed came off as
genuinely looking forward to playing with Owens, and that Owens's
enthusiasm apparently was off the charts in his talk w/ Bledsoe.
- For what it's worth, he hypothesized that Parcells walks away after this
season if the Cowboys either win the Super Bowl or don't make the playoffs
at all, but that he comes back if they get deep in the playoffs. Got all that?
One thing that did catch my attention in particular was that he mentioned that Owens is scheduled in "this week" to start the offseason program. I know that the program officially began last Monday, March 20th, and I could've sworn I read in several articles after his press conference that he was reporting last Tuesday, March 21st. Anybody know what is behind this discrepancy?
