Mickey: (at the NFL owner's meeting)
It hasn't been approved, but they are looking at no snow angels, no using the football as a prop. All celebrations must not be on the ground.
They are going to vote on "down by contact", "false starts" and a couple of other things to be reviewed by instant replay.
They are looking at a defensive player having a headset to communicate with the sidelines like the QB has.
They are also looking at the process for choosing a new commish. They are going to look for a CEO type as the league is about more than the teams now.
They are looking at all penalties reviewable by instant replay. I doubt that passes.
I don't think they are trying to make it a "No Fun League". Fisher said you can dance, just dance standing up. The rules are already there, they are just going to enforce it more closely. You can still spike it, spin it, dunk it over the goalposts. Celebrations also have to be confined to the end zone.
The way it was explained to me is that Glenn can finish his career as a Cowboy. I was a told it was a 2 mil roster bonus after the first year. If, as you said, it was a 5 mil roster bonus after 2 years, then that would change everything.
I was talking to Jack Del Rio. He is going to make the Cowboys wear blue jerseys on opening day.

I would like to see a better explanation of Glenn's contract.

Man Jack better be worried about that Blue streak, wait was that superman, no it was TO and he just blew by the safety and is taking it to the house, again and again, and again. Folks pinch yourselves, we got the best wr in all of the NFL, he will light up the league this year, he is healed, healthy, hungry, and happy....

Thanks Jack. The blue Jersey jinx was broken when Tex Schram changed the design and color of the blue Jerseys long ago. The only jinx we have on our uniforms now is the throwback...we hardly ever win in them.

I just don't think the Blue Jersey thig has the impact it used to. No one talks about it anymore, so it has no psychological effect. When everyone knew what it meant, it could not but have an impact on the players thinking. They expected bad things in Blue. Now, I don't believe they even care.

Thanks Jack.I agree... Love the blue jerseys. Especially on grass, for some reason.

The last time we wore them, we played probably our best game of the year, too. :starspin

How many road games has Dallas worn white in the last 5 years? Is wearing blue even worth bringing up as a news item?

He's making us wear the blue jersey because of the heat. Jax did the same thing to Seattle in the first game last year.

I like the blues too. Gives us a more menacing look with attitude.

We should always wear blue.

Dallas typically wears white on the road because there's only a few select teams that have white as their home uni's.

It would slow the game incredibly. You think Gibbs complains about the refs now, just imagine what it will be like when they don't overturn a PI or holding penalty that he challenges.

I think the instant replay system is fine right now. They just need better and more consistent refereeing.

Ugh, more instant replay?

I'm not a fan of it (at all) in the first place. Now we're gonna stop the game every 25 seconds?

Leave technology out of sport!

Spags is actually at the meetings getting this first hand. Well, I guess you can say second hand, from the owners.

Doing the "horizontal hokey-pokey" is how I became a father the first time.

How does one become a father by "putting the right foot in, taking the right foot out"??

Mind you, I'm not a daddy, but I was always under the impression that the feet played very little role in the whole thing... :p:

It's only news because there's a feeling among some coaches that dark colors make it hotter for a team. Since we're playing the Jags in Florida in September--when it's pretty warm--Del Rio probably thinks the dark jerseys will make our guys more worn out by the 4th quarter. You'll see that a lot of home teams in warm climates force the visitors to wear dark jerseys.

Why would it slow the game? It's not like the teams would have any more challenges, in total, they would just be able to use them on more things.

It is because of the heat. I'm sure Del Rio has no concerns either way about who looks better in what or any crazy superstitions. Ughhh!
