Mickey:
The Cowboys now have six days to match the offer sheet for Davis, 11pm next Tuesday night. My guess is that they are going to match it as that would only leave them three safeties signed. This would force them to draft for position if they don't match. It would be a two year deal worth about 3.1 mil.
Listening to Jones the other day, he said he felt there wasn't a safety worth taking with their first two picks.
Jerry would rather have a good CB fall to them and move one of the CB's to FS.
In all honesty, the SS should help out a bit more in coverage so it doesn't fall totally on the FS and I believe our SS was a high first rounder.
I think the Cowboys are keeping a very close eye on Henson in NFLE. It may determine what they do in the draft. I think the Cowboys will take a young QB on day 2 of the draft regardless. He hasn't lit it up over there, but his stats are pretty good and he has looked solid. He is starting to get the ball downfield which is encouraging. When your lead WR is Zuriel Smith, who do you have to really work with?
Parcells still likes Romo and Henson will come back as #3, but the fact that he is playing pretty well will probably give him the opportunity to compete for the #2 spot with Romo.
Henson should be able to get enough rest after NFLE to get back into the swing of things come July.

Wish I knew Beriault's status. If he were healthy I wouldn't mind so much if Davis got away.

Regardless of what happens to Davis we still need a real free safety. Pile is the only one on the roster.

So Dallas will draft a young QB and put him on the taxi squad this year?

I like the idea of possibly grabbing a corner high and either making the draftee a FS or moving Henry there.

Dallas won't draft a FS until the 3rd round and his name will be Pat Watkins. I think he could come in and start, and did anyone else notice the same point I've been making, Roy Williams needs to improve his ability to cover!!!!!!!

Henson's best WR is Chris Samp. Smith might be a more familar name to fans, but if you watch the games you have to put him down as the number 3 or 4 target.

Samp is #1

Behind him you have Halterman, Starling and Smith.

As for talent Samp is very good and catches everything in a 5 foot area. He is perhaps too slow to translate at that level, but I like his hands. He might be best served by bulking up into a TE.

Starling has some of the worst hands I have ever seen. I would be very surprised if any team keeps him past camp.

Smith runs good routes but has poor size is doesnt' get good YAC.

Halterman doesn't always make good decisions and needs to work on his routes.

Overall he has some pretty good targets. They are at least as good as the talent level in the defenses he faces. And so far Cornerbacks have dropped almost as many of Henson's passes as his recievers have.

..also.

What does that mean..?

We can't possibly be looking to draft a QB that isn't anymore than an arm in TC to take some reps.

And why would we do that if both Romo and Henson are going to be with the team next year..?

Neither one of them will get enough reps to improve as it is unless Bledsoe isn't going to practice until the week before the opener.

Which we know he isn't, he needs reps with TO from the get-go.

So what is actually being rumored here..?

Sure, a QB in the 6th or 7th rd. is a no brainer..but what value is that if he's destined to be cut or placed on the practice squad..?

That's a waste of a pick when we need to be looking for help at OL, LBer, C, G and NT and WR still..even in the higher rounds.

The only reason Dallas would be looking at a QB is if Henson or Romo is on the trade block come the draft or they will be available in TC for trade when the cutdowns come.

Then there is a roster opening and making a drafting of a QB a viable option.

Otherwise, drafting one doesn't make any sense.

We all know BP isn't going to groom anymore than he has in Romo and Henson and it's abit premature to be trying to draft a QB in the late rounds of the '06 Draft to nuture a 3rd string QB ultimately for the '08 roster.

Nope..if Dallas is looking in this draft for a QB, then it's to replace one on the roster down the road.

Which one is the interesting question..?

The way Henson is playing in NFLE if he continues to improve it won't be no comp for him to take #2. As a matter if fact, I think those of you who are fortunate enough to go to camp will be saying he should start. Believe me if Henson stays on this pace and takes it through camp, he will be the starter in 2007.

Mickey admitted the other day that he had not watched any of Drew Henson's games in NFLE. They then played some highlights from the last game and it was the first Mickaroo had seen of it. After watching the highlights he said despite not seeing one snap, he knew Henson was the NFLE QB rating leader, which he is not. I wonder how he can be paid to cover the Cowboys and not even bother to Tivo the games. It's not like there has been a lot going on the last few weeks. Besides with Tivo, you can watch all of Henson's snaps in about 20 minutes, if that.
The more I read this board and all the information that is brought here by members, the more I am convinced that today's media coverage, (print, radio and TV) is sub par. To say the least!

My thoughts exactly. Mick said he thinks Dallas will pick a QB later in the draft. Then in the same article, he thinks Bledsoe, Romo, and Henson will be the QBs this year. That means the draft pick will be either cut or placed on the practice squad. If so, what is the point?

Another thing, Mick says that Dallas will pick a "young QB" in the draft. That is darn good thinking to be sure to draft a young guy rather than draft some geezer.

Mick hates on Zuriel every chance he gets?
Wonder why?

Zuriel Smith looks pretty damn good to me.

Perhaps Henson has positioned himself to Number 2 and we are thinking of drafting a QB due to possibly moving Romo on Draft Day. Just a thought.

And Keith Davis was Defensive MVP over there if I remember correctly. So it may show you're better than the training camp fodder but it doesn't mean you're a quality NFL player.
