Mick:
The Coleman signing takes the Cowboys away from reaching for a player of need. It doesn't mean they won't draft a S, but they don't have to do any silly trade-up scenarios.
LenDale White was probably one of those "You never know who may drop into your lap", so Dallas was just covering bases.
When you look at needs OL, OLB and NT are the three positions in question. If they choose to target positions these would be the ones.
Dallas is likely going to take the BPA. Jerry said we could add good young players at any position on the team.
I think Julius is "their guy" talent-wise, but they may take an RB because they are unsure of his ability to stay healthy.
The problem with White is that he is injured right now. Do you keep spinning your wheels at the same position when you have other needs to fill?
It may be a boring prospect, but they should jut take the top-rated guy left on their board. What happens if one of the big 3 QB's falls? You take the best guy on your board.
They need to have a replacement for Singleton because he is 31 and coming off of a shoulder injury. Parcells does have some familiarity with Carpenter and they need a beast over there. Carpenter is excellent against the run, can cover the TE and make some sacks.
I think Coleman competes for the FS position. He did start there the last couple of years. He had 7 int's as a CB when they took him in the expansion draft. They then moved him to S. He has had some off-the-field issues and hopefully they are behind him. They didn't pay h
They didn't pay Coleman starter money, so he doesn't stand in the way of developing young talent.
Remember that last year was the first time Davis has started in the NFL. He may just need a little time. He could end up being a good player.
