Norm:

Five players I would like to see available for Dallas in round 1. Justice, Greenway, Lawson, Allen and Whitner. I guess you can add Carpenter to that list and I think he will be available.
In round 2 I would like to see Winston, Simpson (watch him, he has wonderful raw ability and Dallas is in a good position to take him) Howard, Whitworth and Abdul Hodge. Hodge played in the shadow of Greenway, but he is a very good ILB.
Danieal Manning from ACU is probably a third round CB. He was one of the 5 players I would like to see available when Dallas drafts in round 3. He is also a fine KR. Skylar Green and Maurice Drew are also other valuable KR's. Drew had 16 TD's of over 40 yards.
The Big 10 had great LB's this year. Many that didn't even make all-conference will be taken in the second round.
Beriault has a chronic knee problem that I think we stop him from ever being a full-time NFL player. It is a shame because I think he has some talent.

That stinks about Berry-O. I think he's got some talent as well.

Hopefully he can stick around.

Brad Sham just last week was acting as Beriault knee was not problem and that he is expected to make some noise at safety. Jerry has said set some expectations too, so I think Norm may be guessing rather than knowing something on him.

I would not take anything he says about Berry-o seriously. NOt that I take much of ANYTHING he says seriously.

There was some speculation from the press last year that Berry-O's knee injury was degenerative - which I interpreted that it would always be a problem, though no one knew for how long (i.e., it could flair up after 1 season or 4 seasons, no one knows).

But I don't remember reading anything definitive on that from JJ, BP, or any of the trainers. I hope Norm is just guessing.

I think that would be correct. Norm guesses too much stuff when it comes to Cowboys players, although he professes inside knowledge, I doubt he has that anymore.

Not that I listen him that much, but from what I have listened, he is a bit of drama queen.

thanks and great job trick

Norm talked about berry-o's knee problem a lot last year. I heard many talk about it. There is no telling whether or not this will affect him. I saw him on cowboys blitz last week and they showed him benching, he looked big and strong...

Who knows I am pulling for the guy I hope he can stay healthy. It is a bummer we missed out on sean constantine last year, but If berryo is healthy hopefully he can be a player.

Sham just last week said that Beriault had cleanup of the knee and was expected to be in the mix at safety. Jerry has recently said that they were expecting him to make a run at the FS spot. So the doctors must be saying good things to the front office and coaches.

Norm is a worrywort a chicken little type. He always looks for the negatives on the Cowboys and always sees the positives in opponents. Its just his personality though, its not a planned persona like others in the media.

Yes it seems to be so, just like a Drama Queen :D. I mean the times I have listened to him, the way he tries to act like the end of the world is coming, is sometimes pretty entertaining though, I must admit.

On the Flip side, among the folks on Radio, he seems to be the guy who has most knowledge on inner workings of how NFL front office, personnel people work and also good knowlegde on draft and players in general. But like you said, he tends to way exgagerate things that are negative about cowboys, although I think thats the nature of talk show. You need to get rise out of people to get them to call or listen etc.

The Ticket has such annoying commentators (Hitzges' voice and idiotic opinions drive me to distraction) that I can only bear to listen for small amounts of time .... interviews, Spagnola's Ranch Report, training camp,,, that's it,,, :bang2:

I will probably be crying too.

Most likely, I will be drunk though....so I may not care too much at that point.

Same here, I listen mostly for Interviews and stuff. I used to little bit more to Norm probably last year and the first year I started living in DFW (2004), but can't take too much of him either.

But I guess its a hit with the sophomoric humor crowd :D Not that I don't enjoy that, when its funny, say like from Howard Stern, but those guys on Tickets are not funny, other than some rare occasions.

Yes I think norm is just guessing but since we heard the knee problems last year and the idea they put him on IR to make sure he had surgery and time to recover I would say it is probably a good educated guess.

However with that said I think they always, and probably still do, view Justin as a SS.

And before someone says they are interchangeable in our system, if they wanted to continue that idea they would not be talking about looking at CB and FS.

Another thing of note I remember from last year, Norm called the Justin pick at the start of the second day if I recalled.

He was saying he thought the best saftey still left on the board was Justin and then that was the safety the boys took.

Jerry has said that Beriault is in the mix at FS, I think last year they put him at SS because they already had Davis, Scott, Dixon, (and added Pile) in camp. Playing Beriualt at SS last year was the best way to get him snaps to evaluate him.

Finally a mention of Greenway.

I found that odd as well.

It seems it is rare that people are talking greenway and cowboys as maybe it is just not a fit.

So it is odd norm used that name unless he is just throwing things against the wall.

Hey JJT, how about doing an article on the players in rehab like Beriault, so that we know just exactly what is up with his injury and possible future with the team. Same with Burnett.

Thats a good idea, would make for a great article for the likes of myself, out of state people who don't get to see any of the local coverage of the boys, and would just devour any news like that...

That is a good idea. Stick in the likelyhood of their starting sometime this season and compare the recovery time to Cowboys with similar injuries and how quickly they came back.

Write it up JJT!

I agree...Greenway would be a terrible pick regardless of where we took him...Allen is a major medical red flag IMO, no matter how he worked out at the Combine

Whitner I wouldnt be opposed to taking, but only at the bottom of rd one after a trade down, or if some how they worked out a favorable trade up in rd two should he slip out of the first rd

Just say NO to Allen with #18.
I don't see how you can chance a 1st rounder on a guy who failed physicals coming into the draft.

And why oh why would we use a 2nd round pick on an ILB with Ayodele, James and possibly Burnett all young and all playing that position?
