Why would you assume that he doesn't? ;)

I don't necessarily think he was saying he'd be a nice pick for Dallas persay, more just a generalized type statement.

Have you not laid eyes on my little Indian Godess? You know she would have no less than Adonis himself, no? Si!

If Santana Holmes is there at 18, how can he be THAT good if he is there?

:lmao:

So in other words, Mick is saying there is no skill involved in selecting good talent. You see, if someone is a free agent, they must suck otherwise they would never have become a free agent. And if someone falls to you in the draft, they must not be very good or someone else would have selected them.

Maybe Mick needs to understand that not all talent evaluation staffs are created equal. :D

Those are just Mick's "code words" for I don't have a clue.

I'm not saying Holmes is that good but I hate when people say if a player is that good why would he still be there. If you go on that logic Emmitt and Harrison wasnt that good then.

He was saying we could give up a fourth to move up in the first. I just thought that was funny since we don't have a fourth to give.

I regularly criticised Mickey repeatedly a few years ago. I really think he has sharpened up his act over the last 12 months.

I enjoy reading his articles. He is bang on with his prediction of Carpenter.

Occasionally, I feel Jerry may trade down and take the centre..... but truthfully, if we stay pat....
Carpenter will be a Cowboy! I've said it for the last 3 weeks, and I stand by it.

Actually, nor shall I complain. A solid choice.

If S. Holmes is still there at 18, then how can he be THAT good if he is still there.

First of all, thanks TB for the recap. Much appreciated. Secondly, Why does Spagnola (Spags) constantly make references to the slot a player was taken as determining his real value. Has the draft ever aligned pick by pick with the chosen players actual production on the field? I would say never! Comments like that seem to be a cop out when you don't have anything of value left to say.

Going by Mickey's measuring stick, I guess Emmitt was the 17th best player in the 1990 draft. Emmitt's career would fall just below Lamar Lathon and James Williams with Jeff George as the undeniable star of the draft. Digressing from my rant I say, "Keep up the good work Mickey." Really.

EDIT: Saying all that I don't feel Santonio Holmes is worthy of the Cowboys 18th selection.

I think Holmes will help some lucky team this year. AND, he'll probably last til the mid 20's if we don't trade out.

My thought exactly. I don't want Holmes either, but the argument "if he was any good, what's he doing there at #18" is pretty lame.

As for WRs, which spot was Marvin Harrison taken? #19

That comment is a cousin to Mickey's infamous "If he's so good, why is he available" from a couple of years ago.

A line that will on in infamy.

With a 4.41 speed I think that Lawson will be able to cover Tight Ends... but Carpenter won't need to learn how to cover because he plays the position so naturally and Carpenter is a right away player that's going to do something more than Lawson his first year, Like Merriman did over Ware, but like Ware Lawson will be more of a contributer down the line... but overall I still want the Cowboys to take Lawson..
