I would have liked Gilles as well, but other than that pick I'm happy with what we came away with. I trust that Ireland an Co. did they're research as I don't have the time or resources to even think about it.

Tuna spent three exasperating years trying to get Allen in shape. You think he was gonna take on Gilles? Get real.

Didn't we want Shawn Andrews last year but Filthy picked him before we could. I don't think Gilles would be so far-fetched if this were the case.
I guess now that we have them I've gotten to like all our picks. The only 1 im not high on is the twin we picked in the 7th round, instead of him I would have drafted Rod Wright.. I thought that would have made a lot more sense.

Not to be rude but I am glad you were not in charge of the draft.
I like the Carpenter Pick, Stanley pick and the Boothe Pick. So of the three I like in your list we got two.
After hearing that many people in NFL circles thought Ko could have trouble even diagnosing plays, scored a 10 on his wondelic I am glad we did not take him. And it would appear many teams had the same worries about him.
I may make some Texas fans mad but I think Johnathan Scott will be another Mike Williams who played at the same school...in other words a big bust.
Kai Parlman, don't have anything negative to say about him, but I think we have pretty good ILBs right now, good and young.
Martin Nance...why draft him, when he wound up being an Undrafted FA Rookie. Seems of over 200 picks nobody thought he was good enough to draft.

Probably would have taken O-line with 2nd pick rather than the TE then take a TE in the 6th or 7th round. The Cowboys didn't need a 2nd round TE like Fasano. With TO, Glenn, Crayton, and Witten, 2nd round talent is not necessary for the 2 TE set.

If we could have moved up two spots from #49 ... Daryn Colledge would have been the ideal pick.
I'd be surprised if Jean-Gilles was even on our draft board. Petitti likely wouldn't have been either last year had he not lost 30 pounds before the draft. Parcells has said in the past that players who are obese and are around 360 at such a young age have problems.

Reports I read on Gilles also made him sound very similar to present day Larry Allen. He can be awesome if he gets his hands on you but can't move well enough to do so consistently.

I know everyone wanted some O-line help ......
But it seems to me that all these "name" linemen in this draft where either overweight or unmotivated ...... which is why they just kept falling and falling in the draft.
I dont want any more reaches ...... BPA please

I wasn't impressed with the OL talent this year after D'Brickashaw most of the OL were pretty even.

while i defer to parcells - the O-line was addressed as an after-thought this draft.
watch as it continues to bite us on the derriere.

I'd ask Parcells if there's anything he would do differently given hindsight.
Then I'd just undo whatever he regrets (if anything).
If he was 100% fine with it then I wouldn't touch it.
da_whiz_kid:
Marcus McNeil wasn't available at Fasano's slot.

I've warmed to the draft since Saturday. I wasn't in a place to read our justification of the Fasano pick so I just thought we'd lost our minds. Although, with Danieal Manning and Colledge off the board I was already crushed when our second pick came. I've come around on Fasano. I was screaming for Pat Watkins with our third pick, so I'm thrilled we got him later. We'll never know how far Hatcher would've dropped. I like what I've read about him but I think he might've been there in the fourth round. I think our mistake was passing up Demetrius Williams in the third- he wanted to be a Cowboy and I wanted T.O. insurance:
My hindsight draft:
1st (#18) Bobby Carpenter
2nd (#53) Anthony Fasano
3rd (#92) Demetrius Williams - WR- Oregon (Baltimore #111)
4th (#125) Jason Hatcher (Dallas #92)
5th (#138) Pat Watkins
6th (#182) Montavious Stanley
7th (#211) Fred Matua - OG - USC (Lions #217)
7th (#224) Jovon Bouknight - WR - Wyoming (UDFA Carolina)

Looks like we're all pretty much on board with the Carpenter, Watkins and Stanley picks.
It's that 2nd rounder that's gonna haunt us.

I wouldn't worry, Petitti would have been a 2nd rounder in this draft, this draft plain sucked for OL. I do not see one E. Williams, J Ogden, T. Boselli, though I do see D'Brickashaw as a R. Gallery
