I'll say Spurs by one.

I'll one-up you, though. They should THROW Mark Cuban in the river after the game!!!

As I stated in another thread, these are my two favorite teams...

I will be supporting whichever team wins tonight to go all the way...

I am rooting for Dallas tonight since the Spurs have won a championship before...

Dallas 104
San Antonio 96

BARF... what a time for the Spurs to start playing "Phoenix Defense."

To their extreme credit, the Mavs are shooting the lights out. If they continue to shoot like this, they deserve the win.

Maybe their hoop is bigger than the Spurs, that means the Spurs should start shooting a lot better in the second half!

They are both shooting above 60%...

Neither team can keep up these shooting percentages...

I'm really getting a freaking ulcer watching this game.

I tried watching "24" when the Spurs were way down, and then they came back... maybe I should switch back.

Congrats Mavs and to all the Mavs fans.

San Antonio squandered their big chance to win it at the end of regulation. Fouling Dirk there was a big mistake. And I can't believe Manu missed on that drive. Oh well it's over, no use dwelling on it. What a series!

Good luck in the West Finals. This is your year. We'll be back next year!

I couldn't believe they fouled Dirk in there...

Tough luck for Ginobli.. he had a great second half...

Diop really made a difference in OT...

GREAT series...

THAT'S how you use that massive frame to defend Duncan. He should remember that next year.

Wow! Thank heavens that one is finally over.

I agree that the refs really stunk in this series, but even so this was very well played by both sides. Hats of to the Spurs who very nearly beat the Mavs at their own game.

Now that it's over, I'm just so bummed. I posted my message in the last few seconds thinking it may work as some kind of reverse-jinx. No such luck.

That game was absolutely draining to watch. I can't imagine what it must be like to play in a game like that. The Spurs dug such a huge hole and then to keep battling back like that was so difficult. And every time, the Mavs would pull away again.

Then when they took the lead with the 3, I thought they had it. In retrospect (of course) they should have allowed Dirk to get the 2 once he had driven to the hole, and then let Fin or Barry sink free throws and force Dallas to keep making shots.

I really thought if we won that game, we'd be in great shape to win another championship. The Pistons just look so vulnerable. Good luck to the Mavs, although I really do hate Cuban. What a little troll. But I really respect Avery, and I think Dirk's a classy competitor who's really grown up this season.

Well I'm depressed as can be now. I'll probably be up until 3 a.m. re-thinking that last Ginobili drive in my head and how the rebound fell into Timmy's hands.

Now there's nothing to watch until training camp opens. I wish baseball didn't suck so much. Maybe I'll try to get into the World Cup.

Diop key at crunch time
Fill-in center has huge overtime after other big men foul out

By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning News

SAN ANTONIO – It was a long night for Mavericks center DeSagana Diop.

His pride was hurt when he was benched in favor of Erick Dampier to start Monday's Game 7.

Then, when Diop got into the game, coach Avery Johnson and veteran guard Darrell Armstrong yelled at him for not showing enough energy.

With Dampier and Keith Van Horn fouled out, Diop suffered a broken nose on the first play of overtime while guarding Tim Duncan.

Diop survived it all and made several key plays in overtime of the Mavericks' 119-111 defeat of the Spurs at AT&T Center.

"Hey, I broke my nose, and I got a W, that's good," said Diop, who finished with seven points, four rebounds and two blocks in 10 minutes.

Johnson started Diop for a good portion of the regular season and the playoffs.

But with the season on the line, Johnson benched him for the veteran Dampier, then used Van Horn as the first big man off the bench.

"First quarter seemed long to me," Diop said. "I guess because I wasn't out there until after the first quarter. I thought it was halftime."

In the second quarter, Diop hit a basket to push the Mavericks' lead to 60-41. Then he had a block on Duncan and later two offensive rebounds.

Armstrong helped get Diop started.

"I told him to get that look off his face," Armstrong said. "When he walked out there he looked like he messed up, and we told him get yourself together and we need your energy."

Diop played four minutes in the first half and had four points, one block and two rebounds.

At the end of regulation, Diop hit Duncan's arm, and Duncan failed to get off a shot. Dirk Nowitzki also defended as the buzzer sounded.

In overtime, Diop suffered a broken nose when Duncan's elbow went flying into his face. But Diop didn't seem affected.

He blocked a Duncan shot, then scored on a two-handed dunk, off a feed from Jason Terry, to give the Mavs a 108-106 lead.

Diop grabbed one of the biggest rebounds of the game when Terry rushed a long jumper with one second left on the shot clock. Diop snatched the offensive rebound, was fouled and after making one of two foul shots, the Mavericks led 115-110.

At the end of the evening, Diop's physical presence on Duncan was noted not only in the box score but in the locker room.

Duncan went 1-of-7 from the field in overtime while Diop ended up with three points, two rebounds, a block and a broken nose.

"Diop came in and gave us big minutes," Johnson said
