Got bored so I thought I would do this. I compared Tnew to some of the top DBs through their first 3 years in the league and heres what I found.

Champ Bailey
190 Total tackles 36pdef 1sack 13 ints 1td 3forcedfum 2fumrecov

Charles Woodson
199 Total tackles 38pdef 0sacks 10ints 2tds 5forfum 2fumrecov

Ty Law
187 Total tackles 20pdef 1.5sacks 9ints 1td 0forfum 1fumrecov

TNew
186 Total Tackles 42pdef 2sacks 11ints 0tds 3forfum 5 fumrecov

Deion Sanders
94 Total tackles 40pdef 1sack 14ints 3tds 4forfum 4fumrecov

My man Tnew doesn't look too shabby compared to the other great DBs!

newman is a good-tackling, humble, version of dieon. great athlete - solid person.I was just surprised at how even his stats were outside if scoring TDs as opposed to the others. He really doesn't get national respect like the others did, but his numbers are just as good. That surprises me too, when you think about the fact that he does play for the cowboys. And they get lots of national attention.

We need to get back into playoff contention or that attention will wane as it has been during the draught this team has been in. It's way past time to get back to the glory days and only then will our players start getting the respect they deserve.

I'm not trying to be negative, but that's just the way it is. I just hope when we do get back to the Superbowl, the opposing team doesn't have the referees in their back pocket like the Squealers did.

True. You never know when you might need to trade your franchise corner for a running back. Or let him walk in FA since if you run out of cap room.

I thought he was old enough to retire right now.

No, wait, that was Jason Hatcher. My mistake.

I think the reason TNew is getting overlooked because he was getting beaten badly in '04 and alot of people heard about it, but once '05 came along, and TNew's name wasn't being called, because he was shutting people down, people just forgot about him

People didn't see him as "shut down". It seemed every time we were on tv, Newman was getting beat in 04. Last year really should have opened a lot of eyes.

People think about players by how often they are shown on sportscenter. Newman doesn't frequently make sportscenter. Hes not in the same level as Deion, but hes definately one of the top CB's in the league right now.

The media is typically about a year or two behind the curve, consistently.

yeah. trading that awesome CB for that portis scrub, then signing springs, then letting smoot walk and light it up in minny, then drafting that rogers guy....that was dumb.

Let's see...

Denver - Champ's current team - was a game away from the super bowl last year.

Seattle - Springs former team - went to the super bowl last year.

The Redskins......not so much.

Ya know what else is funny?

Denver had the #2 rushing attack in the league this year, and #4 last year - WITHOUT Portis!

So they got the best DB in the league, for a player they didn't even need!

Hilarity!!!!!!!!

He needs one highlight reel interception for touchdown.

I still think if he picked off that ball on Thanksgiving that he dropped and took it to the house, he would be in the Pro Bowl.

All he needs is a Madden mention: "Hey, Terrence Newman is one of the better cornerbacks in football" and he is in.

He needs one highlight reel interception for touchdown.I bet Newman gets a couple of those this season. Opposing QB's should really feel the heat from our front seven this year and hopefully toss some real ducks up in the air.

Good Post..
Good Read..
Bad Name...
G-UNOT!!

Having said that...Newman IMO, is a SHUTDOWN Corner..
Alot of people are looking at that playoff game vs. the Panthers in which we were blitzig the world and gettin' popped for it and thats all they remember..

Having said that, do those same people remember what he did vs. the Panthers/Steve Smith this past season..
I don't think so..

Newman is the MAN and my favorite player on the team...

To have boosted his rep, Newman needed to make more interceptions against teams other than Washington.

His ability to force and recover fumbles is remarkable, what he lacks is the killer mentality of Sanders and to a lesser extent Bailey. When you threw a pick vs. Deion or even lost the ball near him, there was a chance it was coming back for a TD. That puts the fear of God into QB's as much as anything.

Newman's interceptions thus far have been OK, though rarely game-changing and obviously never producing a single touchdown.

I'm very glad he's a Cowboy; thanks for the stats.

True. But the gambling style may make you get big plays, but it also gives them up as well. If he does what he did last year every year, I don't see how anyone could be upset. Pro Bowls are nice, but I'll take the results over the personal accolades.

Nice job 50. I was pimping my man from his K-State days and was thrilled when we snared him. He grew up about 80 minutes from my hometown. I never had the opportunity to see TNew play high school ball, but I remember reading stories about him. I saw him many times in college and knew he could be really good in the NFL. It's obvious TNew deserved to go to the pro bowl last year. Hopefully the rest of the league will wake up and he will become a fixture for years to come.
