We're shutting down our office from between 9:30 and 11:00 so everyone can watch it in the conference room! Go USA!

That bogus penalty totally changed the game.. That and the fact that Ghana probably wasted about 20 minutes of the entire game rolling around on the ground. NO class whatsoever.

That referee was retarded. He should go back to being a dentist.

That's part of Soccer.

Going back to the Italy game, we've been screwed by poor refereeing all tourney. But when you score only 2 goals all tourney (techincally only scored 1ourselves) you can't complain that you dont go through. I feel the ref changed hte outcome of Ghana game for sure, probably Italy as well, but like I said, don't sit there after scoring 2 goals and complain that we didn't go through.

Sad to see our boys go home early, but the rest of the Cup should be exciting for all soccer fans. Loads of young talent will be on display all around. Keep watching. If not for any other reason than to wake up at odd hours and drinking.:beer2:

come on guys, is it a surprise that the US has been getting the shaft by the Refs in the Cup. Its obvious they dont want us to win, i believe some of this refs have personal issues agaisnt the US, mostly politics and stuff like that. We are the most hated nation on earth, I dont think the us will ever win the world cup, i love soccer, i love the world cup but its so sad when officials go down to that level to screw us. oh well four more years.

Please people, the US was vastly overrated going into the World Cup and while the Italy game was a screw job, even with a tie against Ghana you wouldn't have advanced.

No way the US is 5th in the world as the rankings claim it is. No way you could beat France, Germany, Ukraine, Greece, Spain, England etc, all teams ranked below you.

The US is better at soccer than it was, but you still have a very long way to go in order to be a world power.

The fact that you listed Greece is just laughable and shows you have no real knowledge of the game. France hasn't done anything since Euro 2000, and their pitiful form so far this tourney further proves that they are done. Ukraine!? Where do you get that? They have Shevchenko. Thats about it. Ukraine is rubbish. Spain is the most overhyped team I have ever seen.

Now I agree that US is not better than some of the teams ranked lower than them, but not the ones you listed.

Regardless of what you say, no one in the world can deny that the Italy game was a screw job, and the Ghana game saw what is to this point hte most dubious penalty awarded all tourney. That's all. And no one expected the US to actually win the entire tournament, but if you look at it objectively, and throw out the Czech result, they probably should have advanced.

The ranking system is horrible and i think FIFA already said that they will make another ranking system.

You don't actually believe, regardless of how France has looked, that the US is better than them do you?

Spain, see above

Ukraine see above

Greece, perhaps a stretch, but they still are European champion.

You claim that Ukraine only has Shevshenko and nothing else, what does the US have other than the invisible Landon Donovan?

While the US did get screwed in the Italy game, you still didn't score a single goal in it, your goal was a gift.

The US is probably realistically number 20 in the world.

I'm glad FIFA is changing their ranking system because no way Mexico and USA are as good as their ranking.

How did you beat Italy when you didn't even score your own goal? Last time I checked it was 1-1.

Maybe they cheered for Ghana because they are an underdog nation who had little of its own fans there?

Soccer is for kids not athletic enough for basketball, tough enough for football, or coordinated enough for baseball. It sucks.

Is that why you played soccer ;)

I played as a kid during the hockey offseason, and unlike the sports you mentioned, you have to be in superior physical shape because you run for 90 minutes.

You can train to have endurance, you cant train yourself to be coordinated or athletic. You can get better in said attributes, but you cant learn them.

You ought to watch a game sometime. You still wouldn't know what you were talking about, but at least your opionion wouldn't sound quite as uninformed.

He was offside BUT the ref might have let it go if the American had not tried to make a play for the ball and been blocking Buffon.

That's funny.

It would almost lead folks to think "huh? why do they hate us?" -- a little healthy introspection at the national-level might be in order.
