not worth the trouble at all. there were those who wanted us to draft him and I was totally against it. he is not worth it because you can't count on himm and he would take the spot from a player you can count on.

Im up for Signing Chris Henry....
Look at Koren Robinson when he got a chance, he made the pro bowl.
Chris Henry is talented. He was compared to Randy Moss coming out of college.
I think the Cowboys should take a chance on him. Nice Depth and can contribute.:starspin

I bet if Sean Taylor signed with the Dallas Cowboys he won't be in trouble, cause he got people working with him and his off-the-field issues.:starspin

I am appalled at many in this thread for refusing to think outside of the box.
Maybe, just maybe, Cincinnatti cut him bec. he hadn't been arrested enough to warrant major playing time next year.
Or maybe Henry had a heart to heart with Marvin Lewis and told Lewis he was going to be changed man and stay out of trouble. And this didn't settle well with Lewis. Lewis has no time for these non trouble-makers who have seen the error of their ways.

Bengals WR Chris Henry pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges accusing him of providing alcohol to three underage females. Henry, 23, has been arrested four times in the last seven months in three states. He was arraigned on his latest set of charges in northern Kentucky on Thursday morning, then went to Paul Brown Stadium for the team's minicamp. Henry did not practice with the team because he is still recovering from a knee injury suffered during Cincinnati's playoff loss to Pittsburgh last season. Trainer Paul Sparling said Henry could be cleared to resume practice in a few weeks. Henry was also arrested for drug possession, a concealed weapons charge and speeding and drunken driving. The latest charges grew out of an investigation into an 18-year-old woman's claim that Henry sexually assaulted her at a hotel. She was charged with filing a false police report after police said she changed her story. Henry is accused of providing alcohol to the woman and two other females 15 and 16 years old. Authorities said more charges could be added.

Think of the benefits if we signed Henry. No more TO articles cause the press would go crazy talking about Henry and what's wrong with the Cowboys that we sign a thug like this, that Parcells didn't want him and that he and Jones not speaking, that Parcells left TC and he and Jones finished, that TO could be a role model for Henry and provide leadership/guidance Henry needs, etc., and finally this is proof that 06 is Parcells last season.
Heck, I bet Henry would love to come to the Cowboys; after all he hasn't been arrested in Texas for anything yet so he'd have a clean slate. Yup. Get it done Jerry.
Just kidding of course. Assume this whole thing about signing Henry is a joke, right. Besides, if we signed Henry the next criminal act would be Parcells killing Jones.
Nope, even to stop the TO articles it's not worth it.

I know it is a requirement that we must discuss signing every, even remotely-marginal player that is released from any team, as if that one player is the difference between sucking and the next dynasty.
But, given that we just took a HUGE chance with TO, why the hell would we even think about signing another huge risk?

Henry has the physical atributes to be succesful. The fact that he has not been is more indicative of the fact that he is unwilling to do the things neccessary to accomplish that. Henry is also an "if" type WR. From my point of view, I'd rather stick with the "ifs" we have now as opposed to signing an if he can stay out of jail or if he doesn't test positive again and get suspended for a year or if he doesn't manage to get himself shot the next time he pulls out a BB gun on somebody or whatever the next thing is. It makes more sense to me to invest in guys who care enough about playing to try and stay clean. Thats' just how I see it Charles.

This discussion will have relivance when Henry can 1) start games and actually be the second WR that helps balance the field for Johnson, 2) averages 75 catches, 975 yards and 6 TDs a year, at which point you can realistically compare him to a player like KJ and not sound rediculous and 3) get another job in the NFL because the Bengals valued his his ability to make players around him better so much, they flat out cut his sorry........ well, they cut him.

I've always seen it differently. I don't buy into that choir boy mentality. Infact I find it hypocritical that some cowboy fans wouldn't want a talented badboy (as potrayed by the media) on our team yet in the next breath would celebrate and uphold the 90's dynasty.

I agree with you, he is still young and there is room for him to mature. Having said that, I subscribe to the line of thinking that you don't buy trouble. If this were a kid who had a drinking problem only or just smoked a little bit, I might consider him an investment worth betting on. He is not. He exibits too many signs of trouble. At some point, you have to evaluate what the chances of reward might be in terms of the risk you take. In this players case, the chances are exceedingly low, IMO, that even if you could get him signed to a reasonable contract, you could keep him out of trouble long enough to receive any pay off on investment.
It's just not there IMO.

Very true ABQ, while most acquisitions are somewhat of a risk..signing Chris Henry would be a major risk.
I just look past our starting tandem and realize none of the Wrs posses the skill set (size, speed and route running ability) that Chris Henry displayed as a rookie. 6TDs is unbelievable for a 3rd WR.

I concure, we really would be in better shape if we had another WR we could go to but I do have some faith in Crayton. I do not believe he can step in and replace a Terry Glenn's or a Terrell Owen's production but I do beleive he can be an effective 3rd WR and even tow the line for a game or two if need be. Yeah it would be better to have another proven guy but then again, we are now a two TE offense. We need to be more worried about what happens if Witten goes down IMO. Hannam is a decent player and I think he might improve now that he's not 3rd on the depth chart but he's no Witten. Fasano is impressive as a rookie prospect but he's still just a rookie. Ryan, Pierce, Curtis and whomever else are all just unproven IMO. You really need at least 5 decent TEs to even run effective practices. WR is a concern but I'm more concerned with TE to be honest.

Are you arguing any point in particular?
You stated that it was hard for him to make catches b/c he was behind 2 great receivers.
I showed that you were wrong as the two games where TJ didn't start, Henry didn't do much. Not so "intrical" in those games.
