is this his final year in his contract? did he sign a 2 or 3 year deal? if he has a great season, do we extend him or draft youth?

Bledsoe is signed through the 2007 season. I expect a 2 year extension this off-season.

3 year contract.
And actually it was a very good contract from the Cowboy's perspective.
Having said that I would be petrified to offer him an extension for big $$$. You just can't build your team around a 35 yo QB like he'll be next year.
Jerry has been such a doofus when it comes to resigning vets for big money I hope he doesn't succumb this time.
If the Cowboys managed to win a SB with Bledsoe at the helm this year then I don't think Jerry could resist the temptation. However anything less than a SB and I hope this team gets serious within the next 12 months about finding/cultivating a possible replacement.
If for some reason this team doesn't make the playoffs this year I could easily see Bledsoe not being here next season.

I dont think anyone needs to worry about Bledsoe getting a huge contract if he does get an extention. He came to the Cowboys for chump change and the most I expect him to get if he does get another deal is maybe 4-5 mill a year with incentives ( isnt his contract like 3 mill a year now? ).

If he doesn't, I wonder if Jerry will get impatient? It's possible, but I doubt it. How much more will he want to play? Nothing guaranteed there either, but he's got stuff he wants to prove.

I'd like to see both. Especially the last part if Romo or Henson can't get it done.
