Who is Heath Ledger?

That's gotta be a hard act to follow. Jack Nicholson is a damn good actor (one of my personal faves) and I can't imagine anyone topping his interpretation of The Joker.

I can imagine someone topping Nicholson's Joker, just not Heath Ledger.

"The Dark Knight"

That is one Awesome title! Why didn't they use that for Batman Begins..it's much better IMO. As for Heath Ledger....I'll wait and see how he does in the film, but as of right now, I don't like it.

The Joker in this film will be nothing like Nicholson's -- which was sort like a meaner version of Cesar Romero's Joker from the TV show.

Think sinister and much, MUCH darker.

As far as the title of BATMAN BEGINS, the point was to get across it was, well, a "beginning" of the Batman story. BEGINS was a restart, not a prequel. Ledger's Joker is NOT the same Joker as Nicholson's.

Thanks HTown.

I'm wondering how Ledger will be made up. For some reason, I don't see him looking like the comic book Joker. Nolan and his crew went for more "realism" (if you can say that about a comic book movie) in BB so seeing a guy with stark white skin, green hair, and red lips might be a little campy. I think Nolan could pull it off though.

I'm not sure, but I can't wait to see what they come up with for Ledger's Joker. I love the title btw!

It will probably be based more on deformity. They'll probably have him with really pale skin, bloody red lips and a greenish, chemical style tent to his hair or something, and then a posh purple jacket or something.

But yeah - it won't be as comical as Nicholsons - that's for damn sure.

Perfect title. I was afraid they would go with something like BATMAN: RISING or something like that.

They should be announcing the casting of Harvey Dent soon.

Yep, that's probably the best title ever. I had a poll a few months ago on BATMAN ON FILM and that was one of the title choices. It won by a landslide! See how much power BOF has! ;) :laugh2:

Brokeback Mountain Heath Ledger...

That guy? :thumbdo:

Ya know what would have been cool? Michael Keaton as the Joker! Before you laugh, remember his Beetlejuice character? Heck, remember a lot of his characters? He's great with the psychotic persona. He's tall and skinny (I think) and it would be a perfect way to pay homage to the original Batman movies.

Which was the name of the Graphic Novel in 1986 but in that one Bruce Wayne was retired for over 10 years and a drunk middle aged

Author Mark Reinhart wrote the following article for me about the history of the nickname "The Dark Knight."

http://www.batman-on-film.com/opinion_msreinhart_battreasures3.html

Also, here's what Bale had to say about the casting of Ledger:
"Heath is very much into what Chris had done with the first one and he's very passionate about the role. And he's a really good actor so we're going to see something very special from him."

At first, I was like "what the hell?" but after thinking about it, Nolan's decision was brilliant. Ledger can flat act his arse off and should pull off something unique and fresh. Can't wait until 2008!

Keaton? Hell no. Too old and it would have been too "gimicky" to cast him as The Joker. And he's actually short.
