basically wondering who you think is on the trade block, and what teams you think we're looking to trade with.
I'm thinking Detroit and New Orleans.
Players I think are on the trade block:
LBs
Singleton, Shanle, Fowler... I don't think we need any as backups... (Ware, James, Ayodele, Ellis, Boiman, Carpenter, Burnett, with Burnett and Carpenter able to play both inside and outside.)
DEs
Coleman (Coleman doesn't make this team, spears, ratliff, hatcher, and canty with ellis able to come in as well)
I think we might go after one of detroits receivers. Both Charles Rogers and Mike Williams are 3rd string now. And maybe they could do better in another system. That said I'd want williams, not rogers.
We could also go after Donte stallworth.

I really doubt we end up with a guy like Lelie, Stallworth, Rogers or Williams. I think if we do trade or pick up a WR it will be someone with some experience but who isn't as high profile.

Is Joe Jurevicious still available? He played very well for Seattle last year and would make a nice veteran role player.

Are you kidding? He definitely wouldn't still be a free agent at this point in the offseason. He's been too good the last few years.
He was signed early on by the Browns.

exactly.. which is why Id rather just keep Hurd.. Owens, Glenn, Crayton, and Green are making this team.. do the math..

I'm not so sure Green is gonna make the team. Just cuz he was a 4th rounder doesn't mean he's guaranteed a spot. Remember Bruce Thornton?
I'd go with Owens, Glenn, Crayton, Copper, and Hurd. If they get rid of Copper I'd go with Miles or Green.

watch out... Jerry and AL looked like they were thick as thieves this past weekend... and if I recall Coleman had some time with the Al and Black...
a trade is the by product of making your strenghts stronger... like Ray "Coach Queen" Williams old school style!

I don't think Singleton is going anyware this year. Just my opinion, but he's too valuable as a veteran and he's relatively cheap.

That's a good point. I mentally had Green making this team as a given. If his return skills aren't up to par, he very well could get axed.

that is true.. if he doesn't show a lot returning the ball, he might not.. but i still think he makes it.. but he just isn't gonna be much of a WR.. we will get a better idea after the Seattle game, cause KR/PR is one thing you dont see much of in training camp.. so he needs to shine in the preseason games..

I agree with the folks that think we're talking to the Raiders.
Porter is unhappy. The Raiders need help on defense, particularly the DL and LB. We're deepest at LB and DL. Jerry and Al have a history of deal making.
I'm not sure I'd like Porter on the same team as TO and Glenn. We'd have several guys with gooberhead-like tendencies.
But we'd be immensely talented....
TO
Glenn
Porter

isn't Porter complaing because hes not THE guy. how would he like to know hes dropping from 2nd on the depth chart down to 3rd.

If we do trade w/ the Raiders for a WR, I'd want to see if Ronald Curry's available.
I think he was injured for most of last year, but the year before, he put up some solid numbers as their 2nd or 3rd receiver. He's still pretty young and has pretty decent size.

Detroit will take a huge cap hit to trade Rogers or Williams this year. It may be prohibitive, if they cut either it would put the balance of the hit against next year's cap.
Other than that I have a feeling they'd be willing to trade C-Rog for Junior Glymph.

I think the Saints seem to be one of the most likely frontrunners at this point for a trade, especially with the connection between Sean Peyton and Parcells.

1) I really doubt Porter is an option. He is frustrated with his role in Oakland, he isn't going to do well coming here and being third or fourth on the depth chart.
2) Didn't we get Coleman via a trade with the Raiders? I doubt we could trade him back to them. Plus, he really isn't that good.
3) Singleton is our most tradable commodity. He is a savvy veteran, his price is cheap, he is in the last year of his contract and he is a decent starter.
4) I haven't heard too much about New England, but isn't one of their receivers (Branch?) holding out? But I think even he is too big of a name, I think we will get someone younger with just a bit of experience.

Since Green was primarily drafted to be a kick returner, it might be prudent to let him return a kick before we axe him.
Porter is currently pissed off at the Raiders because he doesn't like being the #2 WR in their offense behind Moss. But he's going to happily come to the Cowboys to be their 3rd WR for a team that doesn't plan on using a lot of 3 WR sets in this offense? Or be the 4th receiving option after TO, Glenn and Witten?
I foresee someone more in the line of Alvis Whitted. I think the Cowboys are going to look for a speedster, because Terry Glenn is really the only true one we have on the roster.

I think Green will make the team. We'll see, of course, but I think he'll be our best punt returner very soon. Like someone already said, he'll need to shine in preseason games on returns... and I think he will.
I can't see Porter coming here unless there's more to his unhappieness than simply wanting to be the #1 guy.
I do think we need to trade some of the guys who will be cut on defense because they'll have some talent. I just don't know who we'll try to trade with, at this point.
It's nice to be so stacked at DL and LB that our cuts are still good players.

These teams in question could also wait and claim them off waivers...'cause if we are willing to trade them, there's a good chance they won't make the final roster anyway.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't expect much in return even if a trade does happen.

He signed with Cleveland. That would have been a great 4some with TO/Glenn/Jurevicious/Crayton.

Doug Gabriel if they would trade him would be a better option than Curry. The Achilles is a tricky thing to get back your explosiveness.

Didn't realize that was the reason he missed most of last season.
Stick a fork in him.

Curry tore his Achielles two years ago and tore his ACL last year. And we're going to have to give up a pretty nice package to get Doug Gabriel, because the Raiders are in love with him.
