they are going to build a chili's right across from where i live.

i'm excited.

their food looks great on the website i visited.

i've never eaten there before.

can anyone share their opinion of their food and some of your favorites from this restaurant.

i plan on giving this restaurant plenty of business if they make good food....

any input would greatly be appreciated.

Must be a slow town ya live in when the establishment of Chili's is the talk of the town. ;)

It's like all the other Bennigan's, TGIF, Applebee type restaurants. If ya like that type of food, you'll be happy.

slow ain't got crap on it.

they just announced in two years they are going to build 2 new reactors at the south texas nuclear project here near bay city texas.

looking at possible 8 year job employing thousands of workers....this place was kicking back in the 70's and 80's when they built the original.

damn near became a ghost town after the construction ended in the late 80's.

we have a great high school football program though.

they are even building a super wal mart....... and lowes is moving in to the old wal mart building when vacated.

yee haw!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the responses gentleman.

Just a chain restaurant with a sw flavor to it. Not bad if you don't have much else. I'm a vegetarian now, so they don't make much I can eat, EXCEPT - and non vegetarians would like it too - they make a fantastic black bean burger.

Soy Power to you Crown. Got a fine recipe for tofu patties if you want them.

I used to go to Chili's alot b/c I lived in a crap town where they'd be the only place open when i got off work at 8. the food is mediocre but i could take the edge off with a glass of whiskey and a beer (or two).

Really, you'd be better off learning to cook. after a few months you could out do their menu pretty easily.

When I was little I used to drink those chocolate milkshakes things. I haven't been there in a looong time, so I don't know what I used to order lol...

Southwestern egg rolls.

Can't beat 'em.:hammer:

surprisingly their mexican dishes aren't THAT bad for what it is. Americanized of course, but I like their nachos, chicken tacos, and quesadilla...

And I love the El Presidente(?) margarita. Tho I need a couple to really feel it.

I've always like their black bean burger, but it got to be too hit and miss w/me. Sometimes it was good and other times it was dry.

So I stick to the chicken-based stuff, and occasionally their turkey sandwich.

abersonc: tofu anything is nasty. no matter what you do with it, it still ends up tasting like a sponge.

That's sort of how I feel.

Those places are all so similar ... like cookie-cutter restaurants.

I don't really like Chili's as much as my friends and family do. I think it's a little overpriced and overrated. When I do eat there, I usually get the Monterrey Chicken.

It's not bad ... just no big deal.

The frozen margaritas leave something to be desired.

Yep, those and the boneless buffalo wings are great.

Ya, the Margaritas are iffy. Usually not very good. But the Beer is always awesome!

it can taste like that -- and usually does if you don't know how to work it right. most folks try to make some and it sucks -- you can't just take it out of the package and cut it up. i live in tofu land so i've seen some pretty creative and tasty uses of it.

My fam is borderline vegetarian and they make it all the time.

And I've gone out to eat several times and ordered dishes w/tofu in it to give it ONE more try. I'm always disappointed. I'll give something several chances to change my mind. I'm done trying w/tofu.

You are a veggie now?

So let me ask you a slightly personal question.

When you get the runs, do people call you salad shooter? :laugh2: :p: ;)

Used to eat at the one in El Paso quite a bit as it was one of the few options outside of Mexican food and it wasn't all that bad. With that being said I now live in Phoenix and wouldn't be caught dead in a Chili's (Applebees, TGIFridays, Bennigans, etc...) It seems that all these corporate chains are on every other corner around town, and it is all the same food. Here in Phoenix there are many other options so I have that luxury, but in a smaller town I suppose I would be forced to endure.

:lmao2:

I tried to go veg not too long ago only because I'm entering all the disease brackets now and everyone in my family seems to drop dead from heart attacks or strokes. I read those studies about the lower chances of heart disease from an all rabbit food diet and thought it would be a nice punishment.

Anyhow, first week, it went okay....

Second week... I couldn't take it anymore and decided to add eggs.

Third week.... I couldn't take it anymore and decided to add milk products.

Fourth week... I couldn't take it anymore and told myself I was only a land vegetarian and added all seafood products.

Fifth week.... After a week of consecutive trips to the local all-you-can-eat crab leg shack, I decided to include chicken breasts and turkey.

Sixth week... I just said to hell with it and probably ate as many steaks, hamburgers and other 'bad meats' in the next few days as I had the entire 3 months leading up to my forced diet.

Actually, these 'weeks' were more like 3 or 4 days, but you get the picture.
