Just a heads up for those interested.

*most interesting about tomorrow's game is that we finally get to see Romo

*Romo apparently starting and will see extended playing time

*Romo and Henson will get lion's share of work if Bledsoe doesn't play

*hearing goofy talk around camp that there's a plan to move in Romo as starting QB eventually

*JJT has said they feel they have a solid backup QB in Romo in the mold of a Jason Garrett

*the question then is how much more can he be?

*Bledsoe could conceivably start for another 5 years. He's almost indestructible, has suffered very few injuries in his career, moreso amazing given his mobility (lack thereof)

*seems to Norm that mobile quarterbacks are in more danger than the stationery QBs

*interest level will be high in Romo's ability to perform

*thinks Bill will give him a lengthy amount of PT.

*won't be with 1st team, Owens, Glenn not playing, Jones/Barber splitting time

*interested in battle at RT between Pet/Col/Fab

*haven't seen much of Romo so there's the usual doubt about an unseen player

*over last few years Cowboys could have easily shopped for a backup QB and chose not to do so, they chose to stick with Romo

*if you're really a SB contender, doesn't it bode well to go out and get a vet backup QB? Cowboys made no attempt at all so that signals that they have real faith in Romo. Norm doesn't believe they have real faith in Henson.

*you can watch practice all you want, but until you see him on the battlefield we won't have the information, the first hand sight knowledge of how he performs.

*how will Romo handle himself? How does the team look, how does it respond to Tony Romo

*will be watching McQ and Procter as Cowboys seem to have interest in both.

*thinks if McQ makes roster, then either Fabini or Columbo doesn't make the roster. Most didn't think Fabini would be in any danger of not making roster, but if McQ comes thru, him or Columbo might have to go

*gonna be watching Pat Watkins at FS. Club will need a player to perform at FS. They wanna see if Watkins can actually give them some playing time.

*FS and RT are the 2 positions to watch for Norm.

*TO's house is still unsold in NJ. Had house for 2 and 1/2 years. He overpaid for the house and it's been on the market for 9 months now. Might have overpaid by as much as 1 million dollars based on realtors evaluations. Asking price is 4.199 million bucks

It is amazing insight like this which has me convinced that Norm Hitzges is a football genius.

How about this gem:

this is much better information and logic than what Ed Werdumb gaves us

I'm excited to see what Romo can do tommorrow, but it won't mean much since it's the 1st preseason game, and he'll be w/o most of the 1st-team, hope Columbo sticks, but if not, Ireland may have struck again on a 7th round pick in McQ

These are quite remarkable as well:

I was completely in the dark about these two bits of information.

oh, I guess you want new information, such as Ed Werder getting the sense that Romo will be replacing Bledsoe regardless of record? we haven't heard that, and it doesn't make sense, but at least it's new information :laugh2:

It is just I have never found Hitzges very insightful and he makes odd and annoying noises on the air.

Hey, we all know that the most insightful, thought provoking question of the week was:

What would it mean to win another Super Bowl?

Damn are we blessed with such great football writers.

Have you heard him doing those radio commercials for a product or service.

I swear you think the guy is climaxing and that every product and service is the best thing that the human race has ever seen.

It is so over the top it is funny.

I think the Coaching staff is too high on Columbo to just dump him.

but that would mean they're even higher on McQ, even better

I agree.

If anyone is in danger, it is Fabini.

If McQ has something, I will be happy.

My gut tells me the best way to handle the situation is to keep Fabini and Columbo/Petitti as the solid swing back ups. In that scenario, I would like to see McQ on the practice squad. A year on that would help develop him further and next year we would have something.

Of course, if McQ really is clearly better than one of them, then keep him on the roster as a score for us. I'd like to see him on the Practice squad though.

It makes me happy that with Pettiti and McQ, we might actually be developing some young tackles that didn't cost much.

Have you ever heard him making those noises or getting so excited when he talks...it really is funny and at the same time scary.

But all in all he is an ok guy and one of the few that actually talks football on a regular basis when I used to listen to the ticket.

Thanks for the recap. I can't wait to see Romo in a live game.

Hope Fabs doesn't make the roster, he's only here for 1 year at best. McQ is a young talent, and Columbo has tons of potential.

Im big on Columbo right now.. first round talent and finally healthy.. we could have a steal.. Pettiti is a given to make the team.. but honestly, Im hoping we can stash McQ on the practice squad.. in a pinch, I would trust Fabini ALOT more than McQ, regardless of his potential.. I dont want to throw a 7th round rookie out there to the wolves in the middle of a Super Bowl run, but I'd be OK if we had to throw Fabini out there..

If JJT is right, and the Cowboys are high on Romo as a solid backup in the mold of Jason Garrett,,, then Romo is out of here next year.... Romo views himself as a starter and most likely will search those possibilities in free agency.

So if they cut him he could go sign on the Raiders PS if he wanted to.

The bad thing about not only McQuistan but also Hurd as well is that they are getting a good amount of publicity.

I don't think either would make it through waivers so we could put them on our practice squad.

Good point and that kind of also makes me think that Bill plans on keeping them.

Was it Tyson last year that he just would not talk much about when asked in Camp PCs.

Kept getting the feeling it was more than just him not wanting the kid to stay humble.

That is also why you have seen him be fairly mum about Summers.

I think both McQuistan and Hurd are locks. LOCKS I SAY!

And I shall start a thread saying I called it.
