I know... small crowd.
But it was my first time. (at least in a band scenario)
I've been toying with all sorts of music and guitar for the better part of 10 years. Never had any intention of playing for people though. Just a hobby/passion.
One of my bandmates had a relative who threw a big bar-b-que with a huge PA system and some bands and they insisted we come. It was a little more than a bar-b-que in the standard sense. More of a show.
We rocked the house like none other and have been invited to several upcoming events as a result. A couple milfs REALLY enoyed it. Ahh, the life. he he he
We had a 3 piece band. Drums, bass, and yours truly on guitar and vocals.
Good thing I got s**tfaced beforehand. Well, not quite... but just enough to loosen up.

I think I'm hooked.

Cool. Way to go. I have a slight fear of public appearances, so I can appreciate anyone that performs in front of others.

I actually find it easier to perform in front of large groups than small ones. I used to do musical theater in high school, but I really didn't find it that difficult to sing solos in front of a few hundred people, most of them strangers. Part of the reason I guess was that with the lights shining in my face and the sheer number of people, I couldn't really see individual reactions. I'm terrified of speaking in front of a group of 10 people I know at a meeting though.

It's funny because I get anxious and nervous in a crowd often, but if I'm on stage or something I don't get that way.
I agree with bobtheflob about the large group versus small group thing, too.

Good deal Qwikdraw. Best of luck to ya man. I'm a comedian so I know the feelings. I'll tell you though, there is no better feeling than having an audience feel your perfomance. Whether it's singing, playing in a band, or doing comedy. It's amazing. :D

Hey...WAY TO GO! There is nothing quite like the buzz ya get from performing live...especially if you connect with your audience.

What kinda stuff did you play????

Played in a band once on stage.

Was during an Army Talent show.

We were tearing it up during practice and I heard some people saying we were the best of the groups hands down.

Well the night came around for the show.

We had no control over the amps, electronics or the cables used for the instruments.

Everything was set up and we just went out and plugged the cables into the guitars.

From then on there it was complete spinal tap :lmao2:

I noticed the cable I had was very short so I knew not to move around.
So I am just basically standing there because I can't move much.

My buddy on lead apparently did not notice.

He goes to do his solo and I don't hear anything.

I look over and just knew what had happened as he was looking around like he did not know what was going on.

I kind of pointed to the ground with my eyes and he sees the cable.

He plugs back in just before his solo was over.

It was just funny...so after the curtains close I crank out on the guitar a tune that sounds like kids doing the na na na na boo boo and than bang a HUGE feedback squeal.

I still get a laugh out of it when I watch it on video.

Just don't play in the small run down clubs, cause jerks like me get together with a few rowdy friends and heckle the bands if they suck. :o:

** slam beer on table **

** "Your band sucks (in tune with their song), except for the drummer!" **

As a deacon in our church, I am asked to say a prayer every so often. :pray2:

Maybe 300 or so people.

I get a little nervous ahead of time, but when I step to the pulpit and close my eyes as I bow my head, ... I'm fine.

I wonder if people ever get used to being in front of others like that.

I do the PA for the football games at our local high school on Friday nights, maybe 4,000 people, but nobody can see me so I am not nervous at all. :)

Nah. Cause if you're good, folks like me are your best friend, cause we'll get the crowd into it, mosh pit, dance, whatever you want. Just have some talent and we'll get it going. :D Nothing worse than a crowd that just sits there loking dopey while a bunch of musicians play their hearts out.
