View Full Version : RECAP: Werder, Patrick and Olbermann on the Cowboys...

Dan Patrick played a clip of Ed Werder and then he and Olbermann expounded a bit...
Werder:
Parcells has effectively removed himself from any blame in regards to Owens playing tonight. He said he has left it up to Owens on whether or not he wants to play tonight. Owens reaggravated his hamstring last week in practice and blamed it on the coaching staff for rushing him back to soon. Parcells does want Owens in uniform tonight so he can see how the game is managed on the sideline. He hasn't played a game in a long time. Who would have thought that Carson Palmer, who had a career threatening injury in the playoffs last year, would be back playing well before Owens ever hit the field.
Patrick:
The Cowboys are portrayed as a team in disarray right now. They have gone out and signed a big name kicker in the offseason. They are currently 3-0. The offense has looked good so far and the defense has given up 17 points in three games, and yes, I realize it's just preseason. But have we in the media blown this thing out of proportion?
Olbermann:
Probably not. It is probably 25% us and 75% Dallas. They like the publicity. Look, it's been reported that Jerry Jones was the actual leak on the TO fine last week. He then comes out cussing and saying he will fire the leak when in all likelihood it was Jones himself. I've had the same thing happen to me in regards to reporting what I have directly heard and then being vilified for reporting it.

Would be funny if Jerry purposefully did that to put more blue on the TVs, and also to prove a point to TO how the media will try to tear him and the Cowboys apart.

This is the part that was news to me...
His quote was something to the effect that he rushed back too soon.
Perhaps a subtle stab (given TO's nature) but "blaming it on the coaches" is probably a stretch.

LOL-Olberman?!?!?! What a joke, that guy is a nut job, so full of himself that he gets himself fired from every job, cause he is hard to work with. Hmmmm, sounds like a WR that the Cowboys signed. At least the WR perfroms on the field, Olberman just gets these show created for him and then dropped cause no one watches them!!
Werder, he is lame as well. Yeah, he has the pulse of the Cowboys, give me a break, only TO knows how well the hamstring is, so why wouldn't he be allowed to gauge if he can play or not?? He has practiced this week in a limited basis, so from Parcells view he looked like he was close to healthy.
I was listening to Werder the other day on that Outside the Lines First Edition show. Anyone else catch it?
I swear I heard him say that Parcells has "told" him that this could ultimately come down to Jerry having to choose between Parcells and Owens.
I had to do a double-take because he said it so non-chalantly and nothing else has been said of it.

But it makes for a cute one-liner.
Kinda like "How could Keith Davis, who has a bullet in his thigh, return to the field before TO?"

I thought that was rather ridiculous and had no correlation to the situation...
I'm failing to see the logic in Jerry starting the leak.
If that were true he would have to be incredibly stupid. As it is I think I'm gonna have to attribute the absurdity of that notion to those (like Olberman) who are suggesting it.
Lets not forget Bayless theory that it was Parcells who leaked it.
Whatever...

Well given these two theories, at least Parcells and Jones were on the same page of believing the media needed to know. This proves no argument is brewing. :)

Comes as a coach who's concerned about his player. And Owens may have rushed back too quickly, but Parcells wouldn't be Parcells w/o rushing players. No tolerance for injuries and TO's the last person who should've gotten one.

Would be funny if Jerry purposefully did that to put more blue on the TVs, and also to prove a point to TO how the media will try to tear him and the Cowboys apart.I don't get the logic. Any attention is not the right attention. This team will generate plenty of headlines once they start trouncing teams in the regular season - it is that good. These negative stories put the Cowboys in a negative light, and I can't imagine that Jerry wants that.

He is talking about from when they last played last year, til this year actual playing time, not the rehab time, just missing the field time. Just so happens, all of Palmer's missed time was from an injury, while TO's missed time is from injury, but mostly his suspension (or whatever it was).

I'm not saying I believe it, just would be funny if Jerry told TO: "Look, I'm gonna tell ESPN this, and they're going to turn it into a circus. Think about that next time they try to talk to you. ;) " Jerry is the most laid back and calm guy I can think of in the Cowboys organization when his face is in public. I don't he was the leak at all after listening to him threaten folks like that .

I think he's just talking about their injuries in general, how Carson suffered a serious one, and is back on the field before TO, who suffered a less serious injury in a much shorter time-span
the comparison is idiotic

Just another lie, but don't pay any attention to it. You're a conspiracy theorist if you point out the massive bombardment of deception the media has used throughout the offseason. I honestly am in shock at how blatant it has been. Anyone that has watched all of the press conferences and is not floored by the media's depiction of any and everything that come's out of Bill's mouth should be checked for a pulse.

I think the second to last sentence says it though, neither have seen the field in a long time. That is where I get that he is talking about total time away from the game, not rehab time.

Umm, NOT.
Let's ask why ESPN has turned into All-TO all the time. Every day it's been, "Day ___ & TO still hasn't practiced." Then, yesterday, it was "TO practiced, what does it mean." Then this am, it was Sean Salisbury & Woody discussing whether TO should suit up & play in the preseason game! (Actually, they managed to do TWO different segments on the Boys without ever showing a clip.) I mean, c'mon! :bang2: :banghead: :bang2: :banghead:
That's not the Cowboys organization stoking anything, that's pure laziness from a network that, frankly, created the TO media monster in the first place & now must feed it.
(Can you imagine the wall to wall coverage that will occur when he actually does play an entire game?!)
