I was just reading a post of yours in the Carpenter thread and thought, "I bet ConcordCowboy is feeling pretty good tonight." :)
That Ohio State defense really missed our boy Carpenter and Hawk, didn't they?

Texas, although a good team, has no place being ranked no. 2, this was all about TV ratings. Most knowledgable football people saw OSU as an easy winner.

Serviceable?? :laugh2:
I needed that laugh. They gutted the Ohio State D. If Texas had an experienced QB, then it is a different story. If VY had stayed, it would have been another Texas blow out. The Texas receivers were open on many plays down the field that McCoy did not recognize.
Ohio State had a great gameplan for ayoung QB and the fumble on the goalline changed the game.
If Texas had scored a TD, it probably would have been a different game. But you could see how that play killed the momentum and swagger of the Texas sideline.

They only won by 3 last year. And "IF" Hamby dosen't drop that TD in the endzone...You lose.

I still put them ahead of everyone except Ohio State, USC, and MAYBE Notre Dame.
Texas showed they have what it takes, but the lack of QB play killed them when they needed it...the D could only hold out for so long, especially when they were short handed.

Would not have made much of a differnce as they were rotating first and second units the whole first half...plus it was a night game.

sucks having a freshman QB who can't play up to the rest of the teams talent. maybe he will be good in a couple years. hardly any freshman QB's can come in and adjust to the speed of a college game. it even took Vince Young a couple years before he really got a grasp and began to dominate.

Congratulations to the Buckeyes and really hope they make it all the way to the title game. i dont want to sound like im making excuses but if we were to have had a player at QB that actually had some experience and could play then i think that the Longhorns would have won. Too bad Superman didnt come back for his senior year and also too bad Brown went back to his stupid ways that he had before Vince Young almost single handidly led the Horns to the National Championship. Oh well good luck and it should be a big year for the Bucks

Ditto, I agree with everything you said. He is one of the greatest college QBs ever. The only guy I would rate above him would be Tommie Frazier. Vince had the chance to be all alone on the list too.

Okay, sorry about that.
I again want to say congrats to the Buckeye fans. What a good win for you guys. You came in here with a great gameplan and executed it almost to a T.
My hats off to you
I am upset that my horns blew some chances, but your team took advantage when they had to. Troy Smith is an outstanding QB who was money all game long.
I am rooting for a rematch, but I know it might not happen. If anyone else must win the MNC instead of Texas, I can't think of a better team than Ohio State.

Don't get me started on this.
Texas blew several chances last year at the shoe as well(Kelson's INT drop that would have been a walk in TD for one along with Melton's TD that was called wrong.) it would not have been an "easy buckeye victory" if Smith had started the whole game.
Contrary to popular belief, Smith really did no better than Zwick...the numbers were basically even.
This year was a different story for both teams.

The Tight End dropped that TD pass last year.
I think that it's not that Smith just outperformed Zwick but the offense could have gotten a better rthyme with just one QB in the whole game.

No doubt Young could have made a difference.
Felt the same way about Clarett after our National Championship.

I guess Baylor hasn't had a lot to be proud of football-wise for a really really long time. Not since Abercrombie and Singletary left and I was at the Cotton Bowl game against Alabama (2-32 I believe and looked like 2-102) so Baylor wasn't proud for long that year either.

If Hamby catches the pass the first time and doesn't bobble it...The Texas defender never gets the chance to help him "Drop" it on the second attempt.

No question...But we have to get our run defense fixed.
But there are a lot of new guys starting and we did face 3 very good backs the last two weeks.
Nevertheless...It needs to get better.
