Sucks for everyone involved. He adds another injury to his career, and he has a lot left on his contract. If this is career ending, that's a big cap hit.

At his age and how he plays the position I'd bet he's done. Guess they got Darren Howard and Trent Cole just in time.

Talk about a guy who should be in the dog house. Cole helps put the giants in great FG range with a stupid personal foul

Very sorry to hear it. He was truly incredible as a younger player, before the injuries....
The Eagles knew of Kearse's injury history when they signed him. They were willing to roll the dice on him because of his unusual talent.
With all of the advancements in surgery, it wouldn't surprise me to see him back after a rehab. Here's wishing him the best.
I was watching his game when the injury happened. The actual replay didn't look so bad at first glance. Initially I thought that maybe his lower thigh, just above the knee, had been hurt when it was struck by another player's knee. But you could also see Kearse's knee bend slightly in an odd direction....

wouldn't wish that on any player, no matter how good or marginal, no matter whether a Cowboy or a player on another team....
Best of luck to him.

That is a killer for them. I like Kearse. Always thought he was a good dude. Westbrook should be the next one to be out with a bum knee.

I feel sorry for the person (but not the team). Hopefully his recovery will go well.

Wow if that is official that is awful. I hate injuries.
Good thing for the eagles though is that there front office is so good, they have about 4 legitimate pass rushers including a budding star in Trent Cole................who oh by the way, was picked with the redskins 5th round pick in the 05 draft...
so essentially the redskins traded James thrash for Trent cole, then the skins signed andre carter this offseason for big money...
Let that sink in for a second.....Vinny cerato and Dan snyder are the worst front office duo in the league...

That sucks. That was a nasty looking blow to his knee, too. I hope he recovers and plays again, it is a horrible thing to go into retirement due to injury.

That's just it; Kearse is an unusual talent (one I admire and respect becuase he's Charles-Haley-esque). The Eagles will surely miss him. Was he the cornerstone of their front-7? If so, thais could be as devastating to the Eagles defense as was McNabb's injuries to their offense last saason.

I love Kearse as a player
he also showed me something when they did the NFL Network game of the week of us @ Philly last year...
it was towards the end before Roy's INT and they were showing the Eagles' sideline... Kearse was sitting next to some other player who was like "they're [cowboys] are done! it's over! put a fork in them!" or whatever... Kearse kinda smiled but reluctantly b/c I'm sure he knew it's not over til it's over... and hopefully it's not over for him

Kearse out indefinitely with knee injury
By ROB MAADDI
AP Sports Writer
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Jevon Kearse could be sidelined indefinitely with a "severe" knee injury the star defensive end sustained in Philadelphia's overtime loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Kearse, who had 2 1/2 sacks in the game, was injured when his leg knocked against Mike Patterson while the two brought down Eli Manning on New York's first possession of the extra period. Kearse reached for his left knee immediately after the play, was helped off the field and carted to the locker room.
He had an MRI exam on Monday, and coach Andy Reid said the severity of the injury still was being evaluated.
"It's severe. I don't have a time or length," Reid said. "We'll have to see how bad it is exactly. I'll let you know later."
Guard Shawn Andrews strained his shoulder, cornerback Rod Hood left with a heel injury, tight end L.J. Smith sprained his shoulder and running back Brian Westbrook has swelling in his knee.
Andrews is having an MRI to determine the extent of his injury, but the injury to Kearse appears most serious.
Kearse is in his third season with the Eagles after signing a $66 million, eight-year contract in 2004. He had 7 1/2 sacks in each of his first two seasons in Philadelphia after getting at least 9 1/2 in four of his five years in Tennessee. He already had 3 1/2 sacks in two games and seemed poised to have an outstanding season.
Kearse's injury should give former first-round pick Jerome McDougle an opportunity to play after he was inactive the first two games. Backup ends Trent Cole (four) and Juqua Thomas (two) have combined for six sacks while getting plenty of playing time in defensive coordinator Jim Johnson's eight-man line rotation.
The Eagles already have 13 sacks this season, including 12 from a revamped defensive line that had just 21 1/2 of the team's 29 sacks last year.
A first-round pick by Tennessee in 1999, Kearse quickly established himself as one of the NFL's premier sack artists and earned the nickname: "The Freak."
Kearse had 36 sacks and went to the Pro Bowl in his first three seasons, twice earning All-Pro honors. But he had just 11 1/2 sacks in his last two injury-plagued seasons with the Titans. He missed 12 games with a broken bone in his left foot in 2002, sprained the same foot the following year and missed nearly three games.
Kearse has missed three games with the Eagles, but two of those came in 2004 after Philadelphia had clinched first place in the conference and rested its regulars.

NFL Network just reported on Point After that he has a severe MCL & ACL sprain and will be out for the year. Big loss for them, but they do still have very good ends without Kearse. Just hurts their depth.

Tough one for Kearse. I hate the Iggles but you never want to see something like that happen, especially to a player who is pretty hard to hate.
