Is anyone listening? Didn't see a thread on it. Strange that even DC.com isn't having it.

Not tons too useful, and hopefully IR or Trickblue are recapping, but...

He will take both kickers, although he isn't sure if he'll activate both.

Club is staying in a hotel outside the city not for security reasons, but because the city was sold out.

Crayton and Newman will be punt returners. (No mention of Rector.)

Hasn't noticed any difference in TO this week.

Yes, going back to Philly brings back difficult memories for him, for obvious reasons.

Eagles have improved their O-line. Replaced their center, new left guard, and Andrews has grown into one of the best linemen in the game.

Plenty of talk about Bobby Carpenter. Says he most likely will be active and you'll see him on the nickel. You can't call guys disappointments until a couple of years... "I really mean that." Says he thinks he'll eventually be a good player. Said the Eagles first round pick hasn't been active yet this year. (Is that right? I thought Bunkley was rotating in. Maybe Bill misspoke or I misheard.)

Little more ribbing of Werder... Not much else.

Just looked at DC.COM and there's no listing of a PC today. Just said Parcells would briefly join in Talkin Cowboys, which I think is what you're listening to.

Thanks for catching what you did, BTW.

Actually, I was just listening to 103.3 like usual when they broke in with it. Went to DC.com to see the video of it, but Mickey was talking on his usual show. Maybe Bill showed up early and caught them off guard or something?

Oh no, crayton as PR scares me. ST may well determine the outcome.

I really really really really really really wanted Shawn Andrews when he came up. I wonder if we would have taken him had Philly not leapfrogged us.

I think Jerry said that. He said they targeted Andrews and when he went to philly, thats when they decided to trade with Buffalo.

I seem to recall him fumbling one last year, but we ended up recovering it. He carries the damn ball like a loaf of bread. I'd rather have Newman back there, he's so much more exciting to watch.

I dont think he has fumbled or dropped one that the opposing team has recovered. BUT, that is the kind of things that eagles team is coached to go for, the way he has run in the past he is fortunate he hasnt got jacked up real bad. Im just saying a ST mistake could be the difference in this game more so than in other games and ST maybe the one aspect where eagles have an advantage.

Bunkley has played each game. He just isn't doing much.

Might have been talking about the great Winston Justice who hasn't been active at all.

Jerry must have waited a couple weeks to make the reservations on orbitz.

We'll see. We might have still been able to get Jones, unless Denver wanted him. Spears is good, but Andrews will be seeing pro bowls here soon. He will be a fixture at RG, something we don't have. I think we made out fine, though.

I have never heard this before. Is it really posible the Cowboys cannot get a hotel in town ? Can you imagine ? I would figure reservations are made when the schedule is released ?

Do they travel tonight or tomorrow ?

Tough call for Cowboys' flagship radio
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was doing his weekly radio show with Norm Hitzges when Bill Parcells decided to begin his news conference a few minutes early.

It's sort of uncomfortable to cut off the guy you just signed a fat contract with. That's why The Ticket chose to tape Parcells and continue with Jones.

Parcells' Friday news conference is normally pretty short, but I'll monitor it for you in case he says something interesting.

What did Bill say?
Love the Brad Sham intro, by the way ... Parcells said he thinks Gurode will be ready to go Sunday... Bill sounds a little congested this morning. I'm predicting 10 minutes at the most. ...

Asked if he has a feel for where his team is, Parcells said, "I think this is a little early. This is a tough division. Lot of things will happen before it's over." ...

He said the reason his team was staying outside Philadelphia had nothing to do with potential distractions. "The only reason we're staying outside the city is because the city's sold out," he said. ...

Parcells said the week leading up to last year's game in Philadelphia may have been his toughest in coaching. Parcells' younger brother, Don, died of brain cancer on the Wednesday before the game last November. ...

Of the kicking situation: "Both of them are equally complex ... I'm going to take both kickers on the trip." He hasn't decided whether he's going to use both Mike Vanderjagt and Shaun Suisham. ...

Rookie Bobby Carpenter will play against the Eagles on Sunday. Parcells once again preached patience with Carpenter. "I see a young player that needs to get a foothold on what's going on," Parcells said. "Right now, we're trying to get him involved. I'd say it's a little too early. I don't think you can make a real sound judgment until they've been in the league for a couple of years." ...

Asked how his defensive line has been playing, Parcells said, "I'd like to see them not get knocked back five yards at the beginnig of the game."

Parcells ended the news conference by giving ESPN's Ed Werder some programming advice after being asked another T.O. question: "Why don't you guys do something original for a change," Parcells said. "Surprise them."

I think Parcells' plan is pretty clear on punt returns. If it looks like they are in position to get good field position, Newman will return the punt. If they are probably looking at okay or poor field position and he just wants a fair catch, he'll use Crayton.

Not sure why people would be scared of this now since Crayton and Newman have been switching off in the last two games.

3-1 odds that Werder had a stroke after hearing that.

I'm still not so hot on drafting interior linemen in the first.

Andrews, IIRC, was a tackle in college. He is, I admit, better suited for the guard position. I do think he can play both, but I do admit he fits there better. Kinda like Mike Wahle in Carolina - capable tackle, but probably a better guard.

and unless you end up being a Larry Allen or John Hannah, guards arnt worth using 1st rd picks on...you can find dependable interior OL's later in the draft, especially if you have a good OL coach

Denver took Tatum Bell before we took Jones

that said, if we hadnt have had the Bills 2nd rd pick its unlikely we would have gotten JuJo where we drafted in round 2 (late)

talented DE's and RB's are far more important in the grand scheme of things than interior OL's...

If you notice this yr Crayton only catches punts when the team wants a fair catch. I noticed this but im not sure.... any one have ne stats to back that?

Parcells press conference 10/6/06

Gurode looked fine, he should be ready to go.

This will be a good test for our defense because this team is moving the ball agaisnt everybody. They've got some weapons but I think the big thing is that they've improved their offensive line. Their QB is on top of his game and is playing well.

I haven't noticed a big difference in the build-up to this game compared with other weeks. I know there's some sentiment centered around one issue but other than that is been pretty much normal.

The only reason the team is staying outside of the city is beacuse the city was sold out. We would've stayed in the city if we could've gotten the right hotel scommodations.

They (Philly) changed their center and their left guard and the development of Andrews has been big for them, he's one of the better offensive linemen in football now. They have two veteran tackles. They are looking to the future because they drafted Winston Justice.

Crayton and Newman will probably be the punt returners on Sunday. It will be situational as to who returns on each kick.

I'm taking both kickers on the trip, I don't know if I'll play both, but they both will make the trip.

I think Bobby Carpenter will be active. I want to try and get him involved if I can. I think you might see him some on the nickel this week.

I haven't noticed and thing different with Terrell this week.

I see a young player (Bobby Carpenter) who needs to get a foothold on what's going on. A young developing player who has ability. We'll find out Sunday how he looks on special teams. At some point in time I think this kid will be a good player. Right now, we're trying to get him involved. It's too early to say anything like he's been disappointing. You can't make a sound judgment on players until they've been in the league a couple of years. When I draft a player in the first round I'm looking for a player who will be a good player for the franchise at some point in time. When I've done it that way it's worked better than just trying to force a guy in and it doesn't always work.

I would like to see our defensive linemen not get backed 5 yards in the early part of the game. (Sarcastic reference to the Tenn. game). Sveral of them got knocked back last week, only one of them didn't. (no names given, but I know one who was knocked back was Marcus Spears).

BP spent the last minutes of the press conference giving Ed Werder more grief about ESPN's Terrel stories and told them to do something original for once.

I really think Parcells was drafting Andrews to be our RT, the same position he played in college. Remember, this was before we had any stability at RT.

(And who knows, missing on him *might* have been what caused Bill to pull the trigger on Jacob Rogers. :()

But IMO he *was* worthy of the pick... He was one of the most dominant players in the country at any position in college. I suspect he only played G because Runyan was such a fixture for them at RT.

But Andrews is a player who I think would have been MUCH better off under Parcells, because Parcells wouldn't let him get so fat. If he were slimmed down 30 pounds or so like he should be, he'd be plenty mobile enough to play tackle.
