Ware is all the Dware vs Merriman complaints
Did anyone see how Ware and Ellis put on the pressure, McNabb was running around trying to make a plays while Ware and Ellis were on taking turns
Fumble recovery and a TD against the eagles vs what did mermaid due..
Ware was the beast everyone asked for...
SD vs pitt Merrimade 2 tackles 1 assist .5 sacks
D vs Philly Dware 2 tackles 1 assist 1.5 sacks and 69 yrd fumble recovery for a TD
and that OLD guy, what his name. the DE turned LB, G Ellis what a day
5 tackles 1 assist 1 sack 1 force fumble
Give it up for the LB's

Yeah but what happened in the 2nd half? Other than that whiff by Ellis on the long TD to Baskett, we got no pressure on McNabb the entire 2nd half. For whatever reason, our pass rush has a tendency to fade dramatically in 2nd halves of big games

Every other message board, Merriman wins.
Either we are the only "smart" fans....or a bunch of homers.
Hmmm.

Dont compare them S.D. uses him different than the Cowboys. As for Ellis, I would like to see more Burnett. Yes, Ellis can run over rbs rushing the qb, but I think Burnett can do more. Also he is alot younger, bigger upside. Alot of people say trade Carpenter but I would trade Ellis before him.

Uhh, wrong answer. Burnett may be for the future but Ellis has been playing great right now. Also, let's see if Burnett can last a season since he has been injury prone in College and year 1.
I like KB, but not over Ellis...

What's that tell you?
IMO......Ware is good. Far from great and frankly, I don't see him ever getting to the next level. Just a feeling I have.
Merriman is simply better. I wish he wasn't... but he is.

Merriman is good, but he's overrated.
Ware is good, and he's underrated.

Ware and Merriman are both great players. I'd be fine with either player. At the same time, I'd certainly understand if most non-Cowboy fans choose Merriman.
If we want to continually nitpick over the 2005 draft, the real "mistake" would be drafting Spears over Castillo. While Spears has been just a solid player to this point, Castillo appears to be a very good player.

I almost passed on this, thinking it was another Ware vs. Merriman thread. But I read Bigdog's post, and thought, wow a positive Ware did good, Merriman did ok thread.
I was wrong, it immediately turned to a Ware vs. Merriman thread. I should have figured . :laugh2:

Amen...the more I see, the more I favor the "lights out" play of a guy with a nonstop motor.
Ware hurt us in the firs quarter and lost contain on the Westbrook TD. He seemed to crank it up for a short time in the 2nd period, and then disappeared again.

It would be nice if Ware developed more as a pass rusher... and I'm not talking about sacks but consistent pressure.
Seems to me that the guy who still gets the most consistent pressure on the QB is Ellis.

i dont think ellis has been playing that great. for every good play he makes he does something that bothers me....like yesterday
nice play to force the fumble. later he whiffed on a sack and westbrook out-quicked him to the corner on a run by a mile

That is EXACTLY the problem! Ware is a very good pass rusher, & a decent cover guy. A good coach plans to his player's strengths. Ellis should not be in on running downs. If Burnett had been in on the first TD, we stand a MUCH better chance of stringing the play out. There was nothing but green in front of Westbrook.

It was to Ware's side and he lost containment, had nothign to do with ellis...but i dont think ellis would have made the play anyways

Who cares? Seriously, who cares? You are looking at one week. I could take another week and Merriman's stats would be better. Who really gives a damn? Why do people keep bringing this stupid crap up? They are both good players. I only care that the Cowboys are 2-2. You should be more worried about that instead of folllowing Shawne Merriman's weekly stats because I could care less what he does. You want me to give it up for the linebackers? How about we do that in a game when the defense doesn't give up 31 points.

Yes and his team is 3-1, in first place in their division and their defense is nasty. Great point. You really showed him.

yeah what else do you call it? the TE caught the ball Merriman was going to knock him down but bounced right off him and he scored?
i dont know what you call it, but it definatly was a glaring mistake by Merriman

the ONLY reason merriman gets more attention is he talks more and has his little lights out dance. Ware isnt vocal and doesnt do little dances. he isnt as MARKETABLE THEREFOR GETS LESS PRESS. THATS IT! the same reason Chad johnson gets interviewed and talked about more than like Terry glenn or some other reciever that not a houshold name

8 years in the league vs 2 years in the league. I would think Ellis has experience on his side which helps him stay consistent. We complain that Ellis hasn't made a pro bowl, but he's been a consistently good player for years, despite pre-TC moaning and groaning.
As for the Ware vs Merriman debate. Who cares? Ware's a Cowboy. Merriman's not. Such an irrelevant discussion to me. I could understand the debate if they played a common opponent, so there would be a legit comparison. So far they haven't...that I can recall.
These debates are similar to the Ellis-Moss debate (who Keyshawn says Moss can't even be had for a pack of gum), Similar to the Julius vs Kevin Jones and Steven Jackson. All cause we think somebody is a better player. They may very well be, but we have who we have. Let it go.

Yeah they are 3 - 1 and they have beaten some quality opponents haven't they. The teams they have beaten are a combined 1 - 12. They are studs.
They have another tough game this week against the 49rs.
