Bledsoe:
Last week was a dissappointment to us. We felt we had many chances last week and we blew it. It was loud and hostile there, but we spotted them 10 points early and didn't execute when we needed to.
I can't recall many games when it was a louder atmosphere excluding some domes.
The Eagles do a great job with their pass rush. As a QB what you try to do is try to go things a little more quickly and try to anticipate more. You have to be able to throw the ball before the WR breaks and know they will be there. I am trying to get a little more experience with some of these guys to develop that.
They came at us with alot of different blitzes that forces you to adjust on the fly. With the crowd noise they know it is hard for you to communicate and pick up what may be coming.
There are some things in terms of the precision of our offense that when you are under duress you have to be extremely precise and you can really hurt them. We are going to continue to work on consistency in our game. We were able to do it a few times last Sunday, but obviously not enough.
We only caught them with a couple of draws with the blitz last week. They were really committed to going for me and they were effective. We had been doing a good job in the previous three games at picking up the blitz. To their credit they were able to get some things working and hurt us.
We may need to incorprate the shotgun more. Part of the reason we haven't used it, particularly the other night where we are trying to change plays and the guys can't hear me well from the shotgun in an environment such as that. We are able to do it more at home obviously.
The interception at the end of the game. Jason thought the LB was going to undercut the route and swung around him. I didn't know he was going to do that and just missed it. I anticipated wrongly what he was going to do. The guy actually covering Jason is not the one that actually caught the ball. I threw it outside and the wrong guy caught it. I turned running to see if I could get an angle on him, I couldn't. Obviously at that time in the game all I could do was try to strip him, but obviously I couldn't do that and realized the game was over.
They were very committed to taking TO out of the game. The first int when my arm was hit I was trying to get one down the sidelines to him. We did want to get him involved in the game but were just not able to do it. There were no words on the sideline. We were all frustrated by the way the game was going but TO was not out of line at any time on the sideline. I did underthrow him but hopefully as we go forward I will understand what he is going to be doing on his routes. I need to learn when he bursts or stuttersteps. It fooled me when he slowed down, stutter-stepped and then burst. I wasn't anticipating that and I underthrew him resulting in a turnover.
I have thick skin. You ahve to to play QB in the NFL. I have to just come back next week and rebound. You can't start in the NFL for 14 years if you let criticism get to you.
I would have liked to have gotten up and celebrated running for the TD as I don't get to do that very much. The guy hit me pretty hard and I had to just lay there a second.
Getting up Monday was hard. I don't get much rest after a loss and you know you have to watch it all over again on film. Wednesdays are alway better as you get to look forward to the next game.
I realize the headlines would have been different if I had connected with Witten, but you go through those plays every week in the NFL. The games are very close i the NFL. When you are really competitive it really stings. It's hard to put it behind you, but you have to.
Philly has a lot of good players on that defense. They do alot of things to confuse you. They are very smart and they hit very hard.
We need to go ut and win this week. The Texans won their last game and had two weeks to prepare for this one. They blitzed alot against the Dolphins. I would anticipate that they will come in and blitz alot. If we handle them well we win the game, if not it could be a long day.
On the empty backfield. We have answers for that, but we have to protect that from the inside out. We need to handle the closest guy in. We had some miscommunications on what we should do and it cost us. Until we solve it, it will be like blood in the water every week for us.

How about saying this Drew.
I really sucked last week, I know I let most of our fans, and my fellow players down. I will work my butt off to get better next week. If there is nothing there, I will fire it out of bounds.
End of show.

along with his strong arm, this is why Drew is a coach killer (if he were to float between teams with weak coaches).
you read that and it sounds great but then the next game it's all out the window and the stupid QB play returns like clockwork.

Would be nice to hear that said once about Dallas defense.

...Drew still doesn't understand that it was inside man cover and outside zone cover. Basically they call it double coverage.

This is exactly what I thought happened.. TO delayed really hard off the line..almost jogging and then burst.. if you haven't at least practiced that or seen him do it.. it would be very hard to estimate where he was going to end up.. however I think Bledsoe had enough time to make the adjustment and just ended up floating the throw.
I think it's clear that between TO's, BP's and Bledsoe's comments that TO needs more practice time with the Bledsoe within the offense..
I mean when is the last time you heard TO say.. maybe I need to practice harder?..
I have a feeling that about 3-4 weeks from now this offense is going to look a whole lot smoother than it does now...

The funniest part of the interview was when they were talking about incorporating the shotgun more and Bob Sturm reminded Bledsoe that he was in the shotgun in the Burger King commercial and that didn't go so well. I think Sturm thought Bledsoe might laugh at that, but he didn't seem amused at all. Bledsoe said that commercial sucked.

Bledsoe strikes me as Aikman-esque in this regard. Crack on him during an interview and you'll probably just hear silence.

I agree and pretty much how I saw it. Drew did have time to adjust but it does not change the fact that Bledsoe and TO are not comfortable at this stage but this should improve week by week. I did notice in the 2nd half of the game TO lining up more in the slot, I think Dallas will do a lot more of this to help take away the double team on TO.

My oooh my. If only Bledsoe and TO can develop the Chemistry he has with Terry Glenn.
A perfect example is the bomb to Terry in the Redskin's game. When Drew threw the pass to a spot, Terry was blanketed. Terry made a cut to the right (into the void) while the ball was in the air............ Drew had to judge his speed inorder to hit Terry in stride and keeping the defenders out of the play
This is what happens when you're injured during training camp.

I actually feel better after listening to the show. But it still doesn't change his capabilities. I like Drew. He's a stand up guy. He's smart. He's tough. He has all the "inner" qualities you want in a player. I also forgive him for the 2nd TO INT. He explained it as a chemistry thing. It's understandable. They need to fix it. Actually, I blame TO more ... now that I know the facts. Oh God ... when will the madness end :-)

What I don't understand about the INT on the pass to T.O. in the 4th Quarter is why couldn't Aikman as the TV analyst see that is what happened?
It was very obvious on the replay that the way Drew explained it is exactly what happened, but all Troy could do was criticize T.O. for not running hard.
It was obvious T.O. was attempting to fake out the CB and at the same time not draw the safety over too quickly.

Ok now I am pissed at him, he is a LIAR. BP said they did nothing different, Dreww is saying they did, I will belive Parcells
Parcells also said Witten ran the right route, DB is basically saying he didn't
I wish he would be a man and just accept him mistakes instead of lying and trying to justify them. Be a man Drew.

Umm. Whatever. That is far from a lie. He said he thought Witten was going to do something different ( IE change his route ). I dont see how that can be a lie.

Well just to be contrarian, I disagree with both of y'all. If you are talking about the last TD pass to Glenn that is.
It was a good throw in that it resulted in a TD.
But I remember in chat, and in replays, and everytime I've seen it since, that we got away with one because Glenn is good. That ball floated and even when Glenn got to the spot, it took another second to get to him. I remember when it left Drew's hand, with it's trajectory and velocity, thinking it would hang too long and get intercepted.
Luckily, Glenn had both those guys beat by a mile.

If the Eagles came with something the Cowboys weren't prepared for, it would be partially Bill's fault. It is NEVER Bill "my players, they're stupid" Parcells` fault.
