View Full Version : Would you pay for more angles

I know a great many here subscribe to the Sunday Ticket so this should be a decent sampling of fans.
If someone offered multiple camera feeds from a particular game (in this case most probably the Cowboys) on a pay per view basis, would you buy it and how much would you be willing to pay.

Spadowski, that's actually a very interesting question. By any chance, did that comment by Mickey today on the radio stir your imagination in this direction? He mentioned how he wished someone would show overhead angles that actually provided better overall perspective on the coverage of the Cowboys WRs in the opposing secondary as a means of being better able to substantiate why certain sacks occur.
I think I would definitely shell out a few extra bucks for it, maybe 10-15 bucks more per game (Cowboys only) per week?

In my opinion Sunday Ticket should already have that.

That comment may have played a part but it's really from rewatching the same angles over and over again hoping that I could see something or somewhere else.
But yes it would be incredible if they offered the overhead. Maybe the NFL Network should try offering one game a week in overhead instead of just replay. I know I'd tune in everyweek even if that game wasn't the Cowboys.
Yes. I'd love to be able to see the secondary. The option to see a play from the ends of the fields would be nice as well.

I would pay to be in the room while Parcells was breaking down film.
But to pay for other camera angles ,nope....
games are already enjoyable and for the most part you can tell who played well and who played poorly and a couple more camera angles after a loss would not make that loss have any less meaning.

I dont think I would pay for it, but having more camera angles is a great idea. The traditional broadcast angle is horribly limiting with what you can see, you need to get the wide angle coaches film from the endzone to truly see the play develope and the teamwork of the offensive line.
I also think directtv should consider miking some players from a select game a week, and put that on a channel completely uncensored. When some beast of a lineman just got done sacking Bledsoe, I want to know what words are being exchanged.

I was talking to a friend about something somewhat relevant to this topic on sunday when watching the game... I think I sometimes get frustrated watching the play and all you can see on a pass play are the receivers running off the T.V. screen within seconds of the play starting and left to watch (in our case) Bledsoe just kind of pat, pat, pat, with the ball... I'm not getting to see who's opening up or what routes are being ran... just our QB and O-line protection...
So, for the question... I would appreciate getting those views and additional shots of the game because of the limited amount... with the way the NFL is going as the premiere sport in America, I can see this being fixed soon as mentioned with Kirwin earlier... I don't know that I would pay for it quite yet though...

...are human too and can miss plays. How many times have we seen misdirection or play action fake out the #1 camera?
More angles makes for better experience - period. I would only think it would work if you could subscribe to an additional after the game telecast.
Multiple angles during the game may prove to be annoying to the overall flow of the game. But as a expanded option later on in the evening or during the following week it would work.

No.
It bothered me when they went to that akward angle on KO returns.
Im fine with left to reft/ right to left. But they could zoom out a little, so I could see a little bit of the secondary.

I hate when the show the skycam most of the time. That view is even more limited most times. Most times when there is something to be seen they show a different angle. Depending on games the crews have less angles.
A game like Raiders Vs. 49ers, has considerably less cameras than a game like Eagles Vs. Cowboys or any primetime game.

I have often thought of getting DirectTV so I could get the Sunday Ticket. I was under the impression they are showing all the games that the networks are showing. Are you saying they have their OWN camera crews at every game?
The angles shown on the TV for say a FOX game in an area is the perogative of the director who is in the truck. He/She should have a screen for each camera out there and which shot goes to the satellite is the director's call.
If someone knows the answer, it may influence my decision to spend $200/yr for a 4 month service. What does NFL network cost?...

I would like to be in on the half-time adjustments and listen to what the coaches are telling the players...........especially BP

I always thought it would be interesting to have an "uncensored" version of the game that airs on PPV with players and sidelines "miked" so we could hear the game from the players perspective.

How about NFL On-Demand like cable has but you get a different channel for each camera angle plus one channel for the regular coverage. You can rewind at any time during the game (Tivo like, but with all camera angles offered)
Sold! :p:

I would for coach's camera view.
However, FOX drives me nuts with their camera angles. Mainly because they'll show as much as they can of everything BUT the actual game at hand. They'll show the crowd, the players on the sideline, the coaches, etc....meanwhile the play is going off.

There's that commercial that shows TV, broadband, and wireles feeds of different camera angles for the same game. I wonder when and for what games (college, europe, nfl?) they are going to implement that.

they need to stop following the ball so much and show us the trenches and secondary more

Fox is really, really bad but nothing compared to ESPN. If I have to see one more shot of the trio in the booth rather than a replay I'll scream.

I wouldn't pay anymore than I am already paying. We're getting used as DirecTVs personal piggy bank already so if they want me to continue to hand over my hard earned cash they may want to think about adding this as a free feature.

They keep playing commericals saying they are cheaper than cable. What a LOAD! They cost almost twice as much for less than half of what cable offers and I get free HD channels.
I would love to see more replays and less shots of TO shouting on the sideline again & again & again & again & again & again &...................it brings the whole production of the show down by how much they focus on him.

Funny, it was much cheaper than comcast for me, and I get all the movie channels.

I shell out money for Sunday Ticket already, and would not be willing to pay for additional stuff. I got Superfan this year for free, but I won't get it next year.
Bottom line is that it is a blessing to be able to watch the Cowboys every Sunday, regardless of all the extra fluffy stuff like Superfan and camera angles.
While I pay extra for Sunday Ticket to see NFL games, I do know that I am paying money for something that a hick somewhere is getting for free by strapping bunny ears on his TV.
