BP is a genius. Can't believe it took me this long to decipher what he is up to!
1) He tells Richie to lose 10 lbs to play RB
2) Early in summer he announces he thinks Richie is going to be his full time 3rd down back. Makes sense considering he caught 70 passes last year. EG and a rookie not really suited for 3rd and long.
3) Not enough room on game day roster for EG, JJ, RA and Lee.
During last week's PC BP says 3 guys will carry the ball and Richie isn't necessarily one of them. Since when is BP so forthcoming with information? "I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Richie yet." Come on BP! He's one of your favorite players of all time and one you think would be an outstanding coach and you don't know what you're going to do with him? No way he would treat Richie's playing career that haphazadly. Tell him to lose 10 lbs for nothing?
My conclusion:
If Lee were to make the 53, the only way he make game day roster is due to injury. BP thinks Lee has trade value to a team like the Dolphins and wants to drive up the price. A game like tonight, or especially Thursday is the perfect opportunity.
