View Full Version : Why all the panic?

Its kinda funny and its kinda sad on this board at times, but I do enjoy the emotion that is here. But I don't understand the panic in the fans. I mean.. almost everyone had us pegged as a 10-6 team to begin the year. I thought 10-6 was very reachable and I still do,, one reason I think it is,, is because we haven't got to the number 6 yet.. I mean does it really matter when, or how you lose the six games? I understand that you want to win as many and as often as possible.. but until we get to 6, I won't panic. This team is prob the best team talent wise that has suited up since our last superbowl,, if they would just make one more play a game,, we could win out.. seriously. So don't panic just yet.. have faith.. and GO Cowobys!!!!1
PS... for everyone that don't remember the years before BP arrived.. 97-02, our record was 39-57,, since 29-27,, not great by anymeans,, but better!!

there is panic because people love to jump the gun and predict after we have a bad game we are done for, we are going to lose the rest of the games for the year. It's rather annoying.

I think it is because we have 3 division losses, albeit one at home, and we are behind 2 games in the division. All three div games were winable in the 4th qtr and we choked.

I think most people are just tired of losing games that we should have one and thinking what might have been.

I don't see this team as going 6-2 to eak out a 10-6 record. If they could have won today they would have only had to go 5-3 which is very doable. That means they are going to have to beat teams they wouldn't have had to beat. They are going to have to steal at least one game from Indy, Atlanta, or NY. I don't see that happening. They are also going to have to win all the games they should win. They have no room for error.

We can only lose two more games to make your predicted 10-6. I simply don't see this only losing two, do you?

i think we are due for an upset, we should have one by the end of the year, the only games that i dont see us for sure winning the rest of the year are against the colts, falcons, and giants. Now i believe in my heart of hearts we will beat every other team we face(cards, bucs, saints, eagles, lions) and i also believe we will get one of those three for sure underdog games (colts, giants, falcons) and we will sneak into the playoffs

I completely understand this concept. But, when you break it down.. we have a very young team for the most part.. there are going to be growing pains, it takes a bit to learn how to win. I have been a fan for 33 years and counting,, and it is frustrating losing to teams we should beat.. but man i tell ya.. it is great seeing the young people we have.. the potential is unreal.. of course it won't happen over night but it will happen.. and when it does.. i see another 3 out 4 run if not better.
There is panic because this is a 4-4 team that had Super Bowl aspirations entering the season.
Is a playoff berth still possible? Oh, absolutely. But with every loss, and the increasing mistakes, the reality starts setting in that this team won't make the playoffs. THAT's what's frustrating.

I think most are paniking because this was a MUST win game. Dallas has already stumbled too many times the last few weeks and in all likelihood they will be 5-5 after the Colts' game. That is if they are able to beat Arizona which isnt a given. The odds of them making the playoffs if they are in fact 5-5 with 6 to go is about 10 percent at best, in my opinion.

Why all the panic? Have you actually been watching the games? Have you noticed that we've become the Raiders when it comes to penalties? Have you noticed that our secondary can't cover a turtle and can't catch a cold? Have you noticed that our front seven can't put on a decent pass rush, even with an all-out blitz? Have you noticed how pathetic our special teams are? It's not so much the record (though that is a problem), but how we're playing and executing (not). We need to go 6-2 from here on out and what makes you think we'll win 6 of our next 8 the way we're playing? Do you think there's just a switch that can turn off all the mistakes and lack of concentration? If so, why hasn't someone already hit the damn thing.

i hope the colts dont loose next week, that way maybe theyll be a lil overconfident, i think we can catch them by surprise, but i am also the most optimistic fan, i still think UT will be in the championship game!!! but in order for us to win against the colts, either......
A)peyton manning doesnt play for whatever reason
B)our defense plays the best game of their lives
C)our defense plays decent and our O plays out of their minds
and as always, we have to be loud!! if you goin to the game, MAKE SOME NOICE DAMN IT!

I'd bet the Steelers didn't see themselves playing as well down teh stretch last year either. What they win, 6 straight. It could happen.

Yea, it could happen and I hope it does. However, I could also win the lottery, and I hope I do. Hoping it happens doesn't make it happen. First I have to buy a ticket and secondly I have to ber very, very lucky. The Cowboys first need to get off their and buy a ticket (i.e. start playing up to their capabilities and do away with the stupid mistakes).

Well lets look at it.. we have left:
Arz Away
Indy Home
Tampa Home
gaints away
saints Home
falcons away
philly Home
detroit Home
I don't see 3 teams there that are better than us.. So I do think getting to 10-6 if very possible. And I am going to call it right here and right now.. we beat INDY.

Are the Redskin's better than us? Are the Jaguars or Eagles better than us? My answer is No, but we still lost to them...
I'm not a very pessimistic person but if we can't win the games that we should win, how are we gonna make it to the playoffs?

Let's see now. Indy is 8-0. Giants 6-2. Saints 6-2. Falcons 5-3. Philly is tied with us and has already destroyed our O-line. You did take math in school didn't you?
I'm not trying to be a . Just realistic. I think we have as much talent as any of these teams (possible exception of Indy), but we don't execute, we're inconsistent, we don't put teams away, and we don't play smart. It's mid-season and I haven't seen anything that has changed since week 1. What makes you think it will? Don't reply with "I just know we'll play better". That's a load of crap. Why do you think we will? What have you seen to back it up?

No way Dallas beats Indy. The Patriots couldn't even get it done. This defense with all the number 1 picks on it cannot get pressure. I actually blame this on the guy making the defensive calls. I don't know if its Zimmer or Parcells, but someone is getting seriously outcoached. I honestly beleive freeny could play the opposite OLBer spot from Ware and this defense would still not get pressure. This needs to change in a hurry.

i see three teams better than us, indy, NYG, and ATL. however i think we will upset one of them and run the table against the rest. i hope you are right about beating indy, but i think the best chance at beating one of those teams will be atlanta. its a lot more like that vick will have a bad game than peyton

Yep. In this parity-driven league, the "better" team doesn't always win. In fact, it's often difficult to assess who really is better. It changes every week.

I agree. We're fine. We just need to regroup (especially that defense) and eat a big slice of humble pie. Then we need to go out and whip Arizona all over the field.

Because I choose to live in a world where anything is possible. ;)
But seriously.. I base it on the law of averages.. really! If one person is making a mistake over and over again.. you replace that person and it is fixed.. IE Bledsoe.. But what we have now, are different players making one mental mistake , right at the worst possible time Ie Witten today on the FG,, he knows he is supposed to blockdown.. everyone knows he is supposed to block down.. he made a mental mistake at the worst possible time.. this just can't keep happening over and over... it just goes against the law of averages.. and to take it one step further.. a tipped pass that falls into the WR arms for a TD, a perfectly thrown td , dropped by our WR,, just stuff like that.. it has to even out ,, that is the law.. once we get on the side where everything starts averaging out.. the ball will bounce our way.. and we will be able to win some games..
( Shakey concept I know.. but its the best I got right now,, gotta stay positive and keep the faith):)

This team has had 1 three game winning streak (05) and 1 five game winning streak (03) under Parcells.
The way they are playing I don't see them winning 6 of 8. Not saying its impossible, just improbable.
They are too screw up prone and after today the defense lost whatever heart it may have had.
The only real chance they have is for Romo to get ultra-hot and win some shootout games scoring 30+ points a game.
Anyone who thinks this defense can stop a good team from scoring is deluding themselves on a scale only TO could appreciate.
