View Full Version : Helmet Tap Thing...

I respect what Parcells has done with this team as much as anybody, but I have an issue with his "no tapping the helmet to take yourself out" policy. I understand that he wants tough players, especially RBs, but if a guy is legitimately hurt he should be able to take himself out of a game. Going out for a breather after a couple of carries in a row is unacceptable. However, if a player got injured and then stays in, blows the next play because he shouldn't have been in there, it hurts the team. What if Julius wasn't able to pick up a linebacker effectively the play after he tapped his helmet and Testaverde was lost for the season? I'm all about toughness, but common sense needs to be used.

Wow. I knew Parcells was considered superhuman by some on this board, but now he apparently has X-Ray/MRI vision. Perhaps we should start a new cult or religion called Parcellsism. The Bible of the religion could be found online with a spell check for you. ;)

You make a respectable point but, BP made it painfully clear, the guy better be dead if he's still laying on the ground. So, to get around a guy actually being hurt and scared to tap his helmet, play dead. That's all he has to do.
