Let's see if Eddie George is still on the team come opening day.
BP SAYS that the best players will play.....Does anybody consider EG one of our top 3 backs?
BP SAYS that what you have done in the past means nothing.....anybody think that's true?
Come opening day, if EG is still on the team, BP himself will have answered that question.

Yep, if he goes by what he sees... Well, he's got to see that Eddie is the 3rd best tailback on the team.
Fourth best, if you count Richie Anderson. :(

George will make the team
The owner thinks he is the key to a SB

I think Parcells see's what most of us are missing.
George is our most dependable back blocking and staying healthy.
The amount he plays will be largely dictated by how well Jones and possibly even Lee are at blocking and staying healthy. Just in case they can't be counted on for 16 games, we need somebody that can.
If Hambrick didn't pull a dookie stick on us, he would of been the dependable but cruddy player we needed for just in case, and he would of been far cheaper.
Ultimately, Parcells decided too over spend for a name player rather then deal with a malcontent for the season. I won't knock him for that. EG's play may not be any better then Hambrick's, but his attitude sure is. And we need somebody like one of those guys just in case.

Eddie has never missed a game in his career.
JJ gets dinged and doesn't want to play in his 4th pre-season game.
Parcells knows the score.

Isn't Anderson also a dependable back, a good blocker, an excellent receiver, and a better runner than EG?

My question is do you wait until the real play begins before you decide? I keep thinking that maybe Eddie is gonna be the guy in true slug fest games like we'll have with Balitmore, and like we had with NE last yr, maybe Tampa like the Tampa game last yr.
Games that we are just gonna try and wear them down because nothing we do is being effective? Hell I don't know, I wasn't for signing him, but I just hope they've got a plan.

I seem to recall Parcells worried about the number touches he got over the course of last season. He sees Anderson more as a change of pace guy then somebody that can be used as a workhorse.

From everything I've heard, George is a great guy and a class act. I was really hoping that he had something left, because that's the kind of guys I like to have on the team, but it's pretty obvious that he is running on empty.
I've watched all the pre-season games, and in his defense the blocking hasn't been the best. He's faced some eight and nine men fronts. But look at the way he runs and then look at the way Jones, Lee, and Anderson run. Look at the explosion, acceleration, and quickness.
There is no comparison.
Eddie is overpriced and over the hill. We overpaid for him badly. I would be surprised if Parcells got rid of him at this point, but if George is anything more than a backup, 4-5 carry a game player for us, something is seriously wrong with our other running backs.

Very good post. I don't think Eddie will get the ax either but that doesn't mean it's not deserved.
I really don't give a rats *** if he hasn't missed a game his entire career. When he isn't worth a $hit to begin with, what difference does it make.
Wasted $.

Yeah, I don't want to hear that nonsense either about never missing a game.
Who cares at this point.

Besides - the fact that he hasn't missed a game his entire career is a large part of the reason he has nothing left in the tank at this point.
Ugh.
