Root for green Bay so the 'Hawks have no shot at a first round bye. Favre is so predictably unpredictable, another costly pick on a ball he never should have thrown.

"What's up with the Browns jacket?"

"So...huh, huh...uh...whatcha like to cook?"He has a set of index cards with catch phrases and movie quotes on them, he pulls them out throughout the broadcast. Beware when you hear "Yeah baby!" followed by "Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes?!".

True enough - but rarely is Hasselbeck dropping back, making a read and turning it loose. It's looking really hard for him right now.

I really need Seattle's freaking defense to step up. I have Johnson and Romo on my team, and I end up playing a guy withVick, LT, Cooley, and Frank Gore. Bah. I'm down by 12.

He was drafted before gre Ellis too, Dallas lucked out on that one.

it's not really that, as he would have never gotten that huge contract Seattle gave him here

that's a funny story in itself, since the Seahawk management got razzled, cuz if you remember, Jevon Kearse was on the market that same year, he signed quickly w/ Philly, and Seattle jumped the gun for fear that someone would swoop down and take Wistrom, and offered Grant and his agent, a significant amount more than they were willing to accept

One of the worst roughing calls I've ever seen in my life.

And you wonder why players like Kiwanuka (sp) suddenly back off and are afraid to hit the quarterbacks.

Something MUST be done about this. It's ruining the game. RUINING it.

They should just get rid of offensive and defensive lines; let the QB just stand there without any pass rush.

The NFL wanted more scoring as a result of these rule changes...they've got it now.

Dale
11-27-2006, 10:25 PM
In all honesty, the league would be better off placing red jerseys on the quarterbacks and making them down when touched with two hands.

At least then the players actually know how to effectively take a quarterback "down."

This is just assinine.

I don't really care who wins this, despite the potential playoff ramifications. But I hope Seattle doesn't benefit from that attrocious call.

Dale
11-27-2006, 10:26 PM

At the least, they need to start making Roughing the Passer a reviewable call. Even if it's the only reviewable penalty in the book.

If they're gonna be this hellbent on protecting quarterbacks, they MUST give teams a way to challenge their obviously attrocious calls.

Danny White
11-27-2006, 10:27 PM
Some analysts have argued that there should be 5 and 15 yard roughing the QB penalties. I don't think that was even a "5 yarder" but in any case, that may be the only real solution for this problem.

15 yards and and automatic first down is way too much for a play like that or the one we had against Manning.

I still don't get that play. He should have kept Vince Young wrapped in his arms until he was able to look up at his arm to see if the ball was still there. There is no penalty for holding the QB in your arms for a split second to see if the ball is still in his arms.

And that call will likely affect the outcome of this game and possibly a playoff spot down the line. The refs really need to let the players decide the outcome.

Dale,

I agree to an extent, but the problem is that there is no place to draw the line when you open this can of worms. Should PI calls be reviewable also? Or facemask calls?

IMO, I would be happy if PI calls can be reviewed. It would have surely helped us in the 1994 NFC Championship game.

Doesn't really matter, I hope the Packers lose this game and the league office watches how bad they've made the game. That call was atrocious. Pretty soon smarter QBs in the league are going to start intentionally positioning their head in a good spot to always have a roughing the passer penalty to bail them out of any 3rd and long situation. What a joke.
