actually the only good team at the time was philly that they beat.

They've been giving up a lot of points too. Pitt and Cincy hung a boatload of yards and points on them.
I know people are on JJ but I think with the way Brees is playing BP will look to suck the life out of this game and run, run, run. JJ should have his first good game in a while.

Cowboy from New York

I love MBIII too, but I think JJ brings things to the table as well. BP has been resting him and we will need a good rushing attack to help contain Brees, who gets sacked very seldom this season and our pass rush needs a shot in the arm badly.
We will also need a good game rushing against the Falcons so we wont have to chase Vick around all day.

Math isn't really my thing..but the combined record of the teams they've beaten is 36-49.

The combined record of the teams we've beaten is 41-54.

Not a real big difference with the records.

But, we've won two HUGE games this season...against the Colts and against the Giants.

They've won one big game, but it was all emotion....that would be the first game back at the SuperDome.

There is no way that BP and this team will lose to Payton...this team will be fired up to make sure this does not happen at home.

I do think NO is a good team, but we are playing at a very high level right now and I just don't think BP could stomach it if one of his asst...beat him. Not gonna happen...we will be fired up

Payback is a good thing...but, it's money time. The game will be a VERY hard game...I would not be surprised if the Cowboys let this one go...

Agreed! Talent aside, who knows Tony Romo better in this league that isn't in the Cowboys organization? Sean Peyton.

Against most teams we have the advantage of them having little film on him... but this is VERY different. He knows Romo...that does worry me a little.

Likewise though, who knows Peyton's offensive mind better than Zim? Zim's faced it in practice hundreds of times....

This should be a coaching duel like no other!

Go Cowboys!

I don't think that the Saints will match up very well with us. I don't think they are nearly as physical as we are. The Giants are built to compete in the NFC East. That is why I hope we miss them in the playoffs.

I really think we can smack the Saints around bigtime. They barely beat Green Bay, barely beat Cleveland, needed a late punt return to beat Tampa Bay at home, and the best team they've beaten is Atlanta, a team in shambles.

mambo
12-04-2006, 09:05 PM
I'm not sure if playing the Falcons is a big game or not.

First, any time you play a division opponent, it's a big game. Second, you have to play the teams they put on the schedule, so the good teams beat the teams that they are supposed to beat. I mean, I wouldn't consider playing the Texans or Cardinals a big game either, or the Redskins for that matter.

I'll say this: as a long time Saints' fan, I feel that the Cowboys certainly have the edge in this game due to a much better all around defense. And I think history usually will tell you that typically good defenses usually win over good offenses. It's going to be a great football game Sunday night against two well-coached teams. BTW, let me be the first Saints' fan to thank you for some of y'all's "rejects" as some on this board has called them. That should tell you how good the talent on your team has been the past few years. It should also tell you the difference in the game (on paper).

Man, you can't make this stuff up.

After a couple of quiet months, another member of the Cincinnati Bengals has gotten into trouble.

This time, it's receiver Reggie McNeal, who was arrested early Sunday for trying to get into a Houston nightclub after it had closed.

McNeal, a rookie, played quarterback in college for Texas A&M.

An off-duty Houston Police Department officer was working security at the club. McNeal reportedly became aggressive and pushed the officer when he was told that he couldn't enter.

McNeal was also involved in the incident from earlier in the season that resulted in the banishment of linebacker OdellThurman and a one-game deactivation of Chris Henry. It was McNeal's vehicle that Thurman was driving while intoxicated, and from which Henry was vomiting while Thurman was being arrested.

If you have watched Tennessee, you would know that they are tough. They have been knocking off good teams lately.

Tennessee would beat New Orleans and Dallas with the way they're playing right now.

Tennessee was 1 point away from sweeping the Colts this year. Don't take them lightly.

don't bother. I was at the game and saw it in person. No doubt, JB struggled in preseason making the switch from RT to LT. But I think he's gotten it down by now, hence giving up only 1 sack so far. And while I'm talking trash a bit, I know Ware is one of the best in the NFL. Those two should be a good battle Sunday night. And if Ware does what he did to Brown in the preseason, the Saints will be in for a long night.

If a guy physically abused someone in the preseason, I would venture a guess that he could probably physically do it again in the regular season.

It's not like a QB succeeding against no-blitz defenses. It's pass protection.

Just looked at their schedule and results this year. They have wins over a few .500 teams and the rest are all junk (sub .500). I originally was nervous about this being a let down game, but all things being equal - the saints just aren't even close to Dallas. This should be a pretty easy win for us.

Hey, it's not like they're Florida and scheduled Ball State late in the year.

You play who's in front of you - beat who you're supposed to beat. We have one win over a team with a winning record, I think - although Carolina was playing much better when we beat them, and the Giants aren't slouches.

They remind me of the 2003 Cowboys, but with more talent on offense.

Dallas had the same problem that year of beating no one until Carolina later in the season.

the colts and the giants were our only "real" foes this season, oh ya need I remind you about the redskins beating us?

Actually we lost to Giants, Eagles,Redskins and Jags. What does it matter what schedule they have beaten. They are supposed to beat those teams. Have you ever heard of any given Sunday? Saints are a good team. We best be ready to play!!!

OK. First thing. There are 4 teams in the NFC with better than .500 records and Dallas is the only one on our schedule right now. We beat 2 teams with .500 records (Falcons twice and Eagles). Dallas beat no NFC teams with .500 record or better and 2 with .500 record (Panthers and Giants). The Saints beat a hot Eagles team who was 4-1 and had just beaten Dallas so i don't see why that game wasn't us proving everything. We beat a 2-0 Falcons team. A 5-6 49er's team who was on a run. As far as i'm concerned neither the Saints or Cowboy haven beaten anyone cause neither team has a real NFC match on paper until this Sunday according to your LAW OF BEATING TEAMS WITH .500 RECORDS. Congrats on beating the struggling Colts.

Well Spoken SaintzRmarching. You may not get a lot of credit on a Cowboys board this week, but the truth is that parity has watered down the NFC this season. Your losses to the Bengals and Ravens are the two that might indicate some flaws (particularly on your defense). The Saints may know considerably more about the Cowboys than vice versa from a preparation standpoint and that could make a difference if the game is close.

I believe the Cowboys will score....I don't know whether the Cowboy defense can stop the Saint attack. We'll see.

I fully expect the Cowboys to win this one unfortunately. But I hope for it to be a good game. I just don't like the argument that this thread presents.

It's like the saints were suposed to lose to the Falcons just to have beat a team with an above .500 record. Falcons would be 8-4 if we had lost to them twice. But we beat them twice so we're 8-4. I watched the end of the Cowboys-Wash game and thought it was very unfortunate for you guys to lose that way.

I don't so much like the premise of the thread, since there aren't that many great teams on either team's schedule, but to discount the win over the Colts is a stretch.

I think it's hard to look at the schedule in hindsight and say what was a "tough win," and what was mediocre. When the Saints beat the Eagles, they were playing well... now, not so much. When we beat the Panthers, some thought they were about to hit their stride.

Division games are "tough" no matter where they are played. So I think those 6 games should be a wash.

Then our divisions play each other, so we play many of the same teams. The difference comes from which AFC divisions we've played and how we've fared. That's where the Boys have an edge.

We're 3-1 against the AFC South (Indy, JAX, TEN, HOU)...

You're 1-3 against the AFC North (BAL, PIT, CIN, CLE).

The records of those two conferences are within one game, the difference being Indy is 10-2 while BAL is 9-3.

But all of this is solely to get a read on our teams performances. It will all be settled on the field Sunday night.

Are you laughing at colts struggling cause it's true. They've won games this year by barely anything. Should have lost to the titans twice. Payton has lost that "spark" he used to have. THE COLTS ARE GOING TO BE 1 AND DONE FOR THE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR. There are too many good teams in the AFC and the Colts only way to the 2nd round of the playoffs is via bye. Colts lost 2 in a row. When we beat the Eagles they were 4-1 with the MVP of the league at that time. I won't even argue our AFC record cause that doesn't matter. You should be worried about your Division and NFC record.

Are you laughing at colts struggling cause it's true. Sorry man, 9-0 is not "struggling," I don't care how close the games are. I'd love for the Cowboys to have been struggling along at 9-0, and you'd love for the Saints to be doing the same.

Colts lost 2 in a row.I don't necessarily disagree with anything here, but the fact remains, they're 10-2. Actually I lied, I disagree that they've lost 2 in a row. They beat the Eagles like a drum last week.

But they could easily lose their first round game... Looks like that will be either Baltimore or New England coming to Indy, and we all know the struggles they have with 3-4 defenses.

When we beat the Eagles they were 4-1 with the MVP of the league at that time. I won't even argue our AFC record cause that doesn't matter. You should be worried about your Division and NFC record. Something about the Eagles... We had just played them as you know, in a very emotional game that apparently took a lot out of them, because since then they're 2-5, including 1-1 with Garthia. And they had to travel to your place.

And how do the AFC records not matter? I like to take the whole picture into account... we have the same records, with a lot of the same teams on the schedule. Our common opponents have been pretty close, but we did better against a slightly better AFC division. Sorry if you want to discount that as irrelevant for your purposes, but it's definitely pertinent IMO.

Oh and I didn't throw this gem out there, but we're about the hottest team in the league. We've won 5 out of 6... in your last 6 you're 3-3.
