He has 8.5 sacks now. Another 1.5 is possible as that left side of DET's OL Backus and DeMulling is pretty average blocking-wise. I'm sure they'll keep Dan Campbell back to help out, but Ware still has a good shot I'd say.

Not bad considering that he lost Greg so early in the season. Since then, not a single person has been able to get pressure but Ware. Not one.
Despite his sack numbers, he is a monster of a player. He's all over the place making plays. The great thing is, he'll only continue to get better. This is only HIS SECOND SEASON!

If he gets 1.5 more he will.
If he doesn't........................he won't.

Ware already has 10 sacks. But the refs stole one from him when they called him for being offsides against the Saints (he wasn't), and the statisticians took another half-sack away after the first Philly game.

The video that was posted showed this. That play will get a flag thrown every single time, and deservedly so.

I saw him go down late in the Philly game. How bad was he hurt?

I saw him go down late in the Philly game. How bad was he hurt?He wasn't hurt at all. Once on the sidelines he was immediately running up and down the field. He was in on the next play (after sitting out one per the rules).
He got his pride hurt, that's all.

He had 1 on Vick but because it is Vick they gave him a TFL instead of a sack.
Stupid scrambling QBs get the benefit of the doubt and dont get sacks.
Another reason why the stat is a "tad" overrated.

Another reason why the stat is a "tad" overrated.Yeah, that was ridiculous. He ran forward for 3 yards and Ware tackled him. That's a sack in my book.

Who cares.........not me..........It's a legit question, but Ware's sack totals aren't going to make us a better team.

Here's the first frame of that video after the ball began to be snapped --

His BODY obviously is not even with the ball (which is on the 36). And, keeping the camera angle in mind, his helmet and hand aren't even with the ball, either. There are plenty of defensive linemen (including plenty of nose tackles) who LINE UP with their helmet closer to the ball and are never called for encroachment.

You're tellin me that if Ferguson was about a foot forward he wouldn't get a penalty? I have to disagree. Otherwise it would be stupid of him to line up that far off the ball every play.

How can you possibly look at that and say his body is even with the ball?
http://s2.simpload.com/12264591899ebca76.jpg
Look at the angle of the camera. You might be able to argue that his hand is CLOSE to the ball, but even that is debatable at best.
That play gets a flag thrown every single time.
No, it does not. See the many examples below.
You're tellin me that if Ferguson was about a foot forward he wouldn't get a penalty?
Nope -- he almost certainly would NOT get flagged. Ever. Lots of nose tackles line up with their helmet near or over the ball and never get called for it. Watch any team that slants a tackle over the center -- they're over the ball a lot. Casey Hampton and Michael Myers (Denver) are prime examples.
Here are just a few examples from games I had on my Tivo when defensive players have lined up over the ball or much closer to the ball than Ware was after he moved, and none of them were penalized --
The Giants' LDT, William Joseph, moves before the ball is snapped, an his helmet is past the 50 --v

The Giants' RDT, Barry Cofield, lines up with the top of his helmet touching the 30 --v

Michael Strahan (LDE) lines up with his helmet across the 29 --V

Here's when Bledsoe was sacked for a safety. The nose tackle and left end are lined up with their helmets at the 1 --V

From the Saints-Ravens game. The Saints' LDT and LDE are lined up with their helmets in the neutral zone --v

The Chargers-Seahawks game from Sunday had both defenses lined up right on the ball or over the ball almost all game, and they weren't penalized for it.
The ball is at the 20. The right end's hand is ON the 20, and the LOLB is hanging over the 20 --v

Again, the RDE's hand is even with the middle of the ball, and the left tackle's hand is dangerously close --v

The RDT's helmet is even with the middle of the ball --v

Ware was NOT offsides. He got flagged because he began moving before the ball was snapped and whipped the tackle, so the ref assumed he must have come across the line early. But he didn't, and he shouldn't have been flagged.

Some of those clearly deserved penalties. Some of them weren't even close to where Ware was.
Ware's body was even with the ball when it was snapped. Offsides.

Such as which ones?
On every one of them, part of a player is over the ball or right at the tip of the ball. Ware was close to the ball at best -- definitely not over the ball.

ware could get 15 sacks and its not going to help us much when no one else gets more then 2-3. You need 2 guys who can get you 8-12 sacks as LBs in the 3-4 to really force the Offense into mistakes. We only have one and lets face it- NO one else on this team is a real threat to do that and that also includes Ellis- who can MAYBE make it to 8. And he will be coming back from an Achilles injury- no sure thing for any player, let alone one his age.

not too many Linebackers get that many sacks eithers, other than people like merriman. But there are many pass rushing Lbs that are known for rushing the passer and never had 10 sacks, joey porter and willie mcginist come to mind

I don't see enough examples. Got 30-40 more ? :lmao2:

Good job Adam.
In one game Sunday (I believe it was Cincy v Denver) the end clearly crossed the neutral zone before the snap of the ball and blew right by the Left tackle for an easy sack and no penalty was called.
