Pretty obvious we got more pressure and had more success stopping the Lions in this defense.

Thoughts?

Yeah I think everyone outside of Parcells believes that already....

Parcells smacks of pride when it comes to being wrong.

I have always been a 4-3 guy but I remember, not so long ago, many on this board were pro 34. It was going to be the thing that saved us. Well, now we've commited to the 34 and it's too late to look back now. Pressure on the QB is the key to winning IMO. We are getting good situations on third down. Too many times we had Detroit in 3rd and 7, 3rd and 10, third and 15 and we gave up first downs. Any QB can pick a defense appart if you don't get pressure. We don't do that very well right now. We need more guys that can rush the passer IMO.

i've always been a 4-3 guy and have hated parcells for that 2004 season. he set dallas' defense back not only defense but the entire team because he had to draft a whole defense.

but im impressed with him today finally realizing he was wrong, atleast i hope he realizes it

i've been waiting for this day for a long time

Yea, we got more pressure and 5 sacks, but our secondary still got toasted all day long. We can't cover anyone. Even Newman got repeatedly toasted today.

I've said it a million times, the sceme doesn't matter. We need a new DC. The one we have is completely clueless.

I certainly don't. Outside of one sack by Ware, Ware's other sacks were mostly coverage sacks. And by the second half, we almost had no pass rush again.

The real killer is Zimmer sucks and so does Bradie James. I think the Lions threw at him with success at least a dozen times.

But we still gave up 36 points essentially in the 4-3, so I don't see how that's any better than what the 3-4 did for us. Give me Romeo Crennel for a year and then let me decide which defense is truly better.

Not really. We didn't pressure Kitna on third and long nearly well enough IMO. We gave him entirely too much time to find guys. In situations where your 3rd and less then 5, I can see where pressure probably isn't the issue. In that situation, offense can go too may directions and it's just to tough to get to the QB on a short set route. In this case today, we had Detroit in a lot of situations where they were 3rd and over 7. That's a situation where you should be able to get decent pressure in time to make if tough for a team to make a first. We didn't do that well enough. We gave up a lot of third and very long plays today. exteneded too many drives that resulted in scores IMO.

Problem is now we have a bunch of big slow LBs.

carp showed a little speed, and akin is a strong side linebacker. they normally dont have speed they're the tackle machine, i think james wouldnt fit in the 4-3. but right now they're stuck with him

i actually prefer the 3-4 but we need to get someone in here that can actually coach it...

Yes we got some pressure, 5 sacks, but the pressure is not consistent.

We still haven't been able to master covering the back out of the back field.

Our Cbs play too soft. On 3rd & 2 we are playing 10 yds off the receiver.

Ware is still the only player we have that cause havoc in the backfield.

We have allowed over 400 yds in 4 straight games.....That's ridiculous.

3/4 4/3 ???? Just Give me a scheme that works & a coach that can teach the scheme.
