Excerpt from Dallas Morning News article: All the Cowboys coach knows is that in some version, Eddie George, Richie Anderson, Julius Jones and ReShard Lee will get some carries Sunday against Minnesota. To Parcells, being the starter means running out of the tunnel first in pregame introductions.
Why do we have this fascination with "who's the starter". We know BP doesn't work like that. Whoever plays first is the starter. A starter can go out on the field for one play and never play another down. Because he started does that make him our best chance to be productive? Being a starter is overrated, and it took BP to make me see this. Besides, I never gave it much thought until the talking heads kept nagging and whining about it. The only time I become aware of it is when the same guy that begins the game finishes the game.

I agree. Parcells has had his most success using the running back by commitee strategy, but should any RB on the roster distinguish themselves like Curtis Martin did in NewEngland Parcells won't hesistate to feed the wolf majority if not all of the snaps.

I blame it on fantasy football thinking amongst fans (do you want to see an rb by committee approach if you drafted a specific tailback?), and laziness by the media (do I want to learn the names and research the histories of ALL the tails Norv Turner will play?).
Life was just so many much simpler before the days of "role players", and convoluted personnel packages. :D

Excellent point. This is BP's 2nd year with the team. He doesn't know what Jules is capable of doing. Neither do we. He knows that EG is on the down side of his career. He's not going to throw EG to the wolves. I'm sure BP has a lot of respect for EG's longevity in this league. He likes to help guys prolong their careers and put them in the best possible position for success. You can best believe, when BP finds out what these guys can do, he's going to use them accordingly. Example: J. Witten. We only saw a fraction this preseason of what we're really going to see. Another example, Keyshawn. BP knows what Key can do. Did you see all the places he was lined up during the preseason? I can't wait to see it play out.
