Watching Bill Parcells, especially this year, has made me like him more.

I really think that what some are reading as a lack of passion, is in reality, the presence of some perspective.

This is a man in his sunset, not just career wise, but he is also getting up in years.

*The players are "kids" to him, more than ever.
*The older you get, the more people you knew and cared about leave this earth. You increasingly realize that even though football in the NFL is a business, it is still just a game.
*You come to understand that some of the guys you have screamed at over the years were really trying to give you their best. They didn't WANT to drop that pass, or misplay that punt, or make that bad decision. Screaming is replaced with patience and instruction.

You get the idea of where I'm going with this.

Parcells has mellowed. That makes him a better man. I think most of his ex-players would agree with that.

But does it make him a better coach? I actually think it COULD, if his players begin to have a rooting interest IN HIM. If they respond to him with as much love as they once did with fear, it could actually work.

But if there isn't fear, AND, though they might not hate him, they don't have a huge passion in their play for him, what does that leave? Mediocre or spotty play.

Can he ever become the master of fear again? I don't think so.

Will this team play out of love for him? Maybe this playoffs will tell us. Because a one and done, and Parcells might not be back.

Holy crow, I dislike him more.

I am sick of the stare. I am sick of the head games with the media. I am sick of 1980's football in the 21st Century.

Personally I like the guy a lot. I don 't know if he is the right coach to get us to the Super Bowl, though.

It's been said that a team is the image of their coach.....Bill looks tired and worn out........So does the team.

What ever energy Bill starts the season with is gone by December......check the Dec. record since he's been here.

It's time for a change.

Hos, I'm with you on Bill Parcells THE COACH. I think this current version has run its course.

But I watch him in news conferences, even todays, and I've never seen him more polite. I've never seen him more patient with the media.

He even gets a bit philosophical on the football side of things. He explains what he is thinking, and why they are doing what they are, etc. etc.

I was thinking that this week watching one of his news conferences leading up to the game.

That is my point, I guess. Earlier in the year, when Jim Burt showed up on the sidelines, it was about Parcells lacking "fire".

He is the kinder gentler Parcells. Better as a man, but can this work in his role as head coach?

It might if players played for him more out of sheer respect, almost a kind of pity. I see some of this, I think, with Joe Paterno at Penn State.

But what you can't have is, they aren't afraid anymore, but they aren't passionate about their coach either.

That is disaster.

:)I'd get banned. I would describe the chances of someone convinving me Parcells is a solution to our porblems like this...

You'd have better luck trying to shove hot butter up an unchained wildcat's butt with a hot poker under a July Death Valley sun.

yeah im tired of the old psychological "master" myself.
the crossed arms and tilted head look of disgust just aint getting it done anymore. my old daddy could have taught Big Bill a thing or two about the
way a # 9 shoe applied to the posterior region seems to work on your mental
state.
