Since the season is about to start sunday, lets make a prediction thread. These predictions have to be odd but possible of happening this year (no patriots will win division and stuff like that). The predictions must be controversial in a way and only 3 predictions can be made. We then will check this thread after the season ends to see who made better predictions.

Boy, I wish those would come true. Especially number 3.

Here it goes anyway:

1. Emmitt Smith will have a big season and actually rush for 1,000 yards.

2. Drew Bledsoe and the Bills will be that team that comes out of nowhere and contends for the SuperBowl.

3. Michael Vick will get injured in the first game. Matt Shaub will lead the Falcons to a 5-2 start, only to see Vick come back and they will finish 8-8 openening the door to a huge QB controversy heading into next season.

I know, some of them are far fetched, but who would have thought the Panthers would have went to the SuperBowl last year?

1. The Tampa Bay Bucs and the Oakland Raiders will both re-emerge and make the playoffs.

2. No team will be better that 11-5.

3. The Jets will win the AFC East (and Chad Pennington will thrive).

Cleveland might have gotten the steal of the draft in this McCown kid. He's Josh McCown's brother and he looked very good in the preseson.

On a side note, David Garrard has Crones disease and they even thought he would miss the season. He had surgery, and appears better for now. Only time will tell, but he would be quite a risk at this point.

1. Andy Reid will choke on a meatball during the 3rd quater of the divisional playoff game. (McNabb will not comprehend the play Reid is trying to give, so he gets sacked and rolls over his ankle busting it up severely.

2. Snyder will fire Gibbs for not winning the first game of the season this year and annoits himself the head coach. In Panic the hoggets storm the field and eat Snyder alive.

3. And finally, Rowdy will uncharacteristically run on the field and deliberately injure Cowboys QB Vinny Testaverde and takes himself under center to play QB, but after security runs on the field and tackles Rowdy down, they discover that it was Quincy Carter under the mask.

I'm actually not that bad at this, and it's always fun to do. I'll bookmark this thread and bring it back up at the end of the season. :)

(1) The Houston Texans will challenge for the Colts for the AFC South
(2) Philadelphia's Brian Westbrook will suffer a season ending injury.
(3) The Chargers will be the first team in the modern era to go 0-16.

1 Only Philadelphia makes the playoffs out of the NFC east.
2 Rams fail to make the playoffs due to the league's worst defense (statistically).
3 Oakland makes it to the AFC championship to rematch New Englad, and loses, again.

1 - Giants will finish with no worse a record than the Redskins

2 - Broncos will be the biggest disappointment in the AFC

3 - 2003's Bowl-to-bust teams (Bucs and Raiders) will both make noise in the playoffs

1.) Carolina fails to make the playoffs and we realize Delhomme was a fluke
2.) Redskins finish at least .500
3.) T.O and Mcnabb become one of the deadliest offensive duo's in the league.

1. Pennington goes down in the third quarter of game 6 versus NE. Carter fills in nicely, but the Jets still lose by a TD. Carter starts week 7 against Miami, throws for over 275 yards and 2 TDs and wins the game.

2. Pennington returns to the starting line up in week 8 versus Buffalo and loses the game with a poor performance.

3. By week 9 Carter begins to brew on the sideline, starts pettitioning for the starting job through the media claiming that all Chad's suck, and eventually divides the locker room with John Abraham and himself on one side and the rest of the team on the other.

1. Drew Henson is our starting QB by year's end.

2. Bill Parcells signs a 2 year extension to coach the team past his current contract.

3. Jason Witten is the NFC Pro Bowl TE over Jeremy Shockey.

2) The Colts wont make the playoffs (this already ruins my season predictions, I had them winning that division but am changing my mind after seeing how bad their D is)

I'll predict:

1) Ron Dayne is no better than he's been in previous years. The Giants win 5 games.

2) Deion Sanders tackles someone with a hard hit. Once.

3) By week 8, we'll be hearing Randall Cunningham's name more and more often during evaluations of Mike Vick.
