This thread title is misleading. I thought it was about Vinny, our defensive line and Eddie George...

No complaints from me about the pass-blocking, but the run is a different issue. It's looks to me like the refs have put a bullseye on Flozell so if the Cowboys keep the outside run game - not a move I would recommend - it will be to the right side. Let FA/LA dominate the straight-ahead running game.

Did Lee get hurt? Absent injury there was absolutely no reason not to keep him in the game. Keyshawn/Antonio were good and Terry made some fantastic catches, but not enough TE.

The DL was pathetic. Where was Wiley? Eaton did a decent job of eating-up space, but the LB's were ineffective in filling. Really can't say too much about the 2ndry, b/c I never expected much out of them. Pre-season told us all we needed to know - unless Bill brings in a good CB, it's going to be a long year. Some may disagree, but I was most disappointed in Newman. No reason Burrelson should be turning Newman around all day on simple out and come-back routes. He never stepped-up vs. Moss, either.

Subsequent weeks may yeild better results, but not w/o a pass rush and decent CB play.

I would add Newman to the negative. I think he might be getting a free pass just because he is not as horrid as the others.

I loved Barnes' leg-drive on the 4th & 1 pickup. I never saw his knee touch. Ref blew the whistle too early and then got in his way.

You're dead on with that one. I didn't see Barnes' knee touch either, but I think the ref thought forward progress had stopped. Bad call.

Maybe I was looking at another game, but I thought the secondary did well.
The game plan was not to let Moss beat us. That's why we rolled coverage his way.
Of course, if you do that then you leave the field open for other receivers to make plays and that's what they did.
I think Pete Hunter and Newman always had an eye on Moss.

Given that we had no pass rush, or minimal pass rush, your corners can do only so much.

I'm with you.

I'm far more concerned with the fact that Minn ran up our gut in the middle almost at will then with the play of the secondary against a team like the Vikes.

If we don't stop the run, we are dead. Period. Substituting Hunter for Edwards doesn't change that.
