Remember how bad we looked last year against a horrible Falcons in our opener?
Things are gonna be looking a lot better.
Starting next week.

Right on dude. I totally agree. As bad as our D looked today, we were probably just as bad last year vs Atlanta (considering the difference in competition).
A big win next week vs Cleveland should get us back on the right track. :o
Good point. We were in hostile territory, and never have success vs the Vikings since Moss was drafted.
The Vikes have just too many weapons, and they would have been a good playoff team if they didnt have their defence give up on them.
BTW, i do not understand why BP & Carthon didnt utilize the screen pass.

Cleveland looked pretty damn good today against a stout Baltimore defense... dont count your chickens before they hatch, that the Cowboys beat this team... especially since Campo and EK are coming to town..lol

We also have to keep in mind who we were playing. To hold the Vikings short of 350 yrds total yrds and 28 points, who have been great. This is the best O in football. They simply do not have a weakness.
OL: TOP 3, probally even the best in football
QB: EASILY TOP 5, could easily make an arguement that he is the best in football
WR 1: Randy Moss - their is no more DANGEROUS WR in football
WR 2: Marcus Robinson/Nate Burleson/Kelly Campbell - they are loaded at weapon at WR
RB: Ontario Smith - averaged OVER 5 yrds per carry last year, would easily be a TOP 15 RB in the league if he wasn't stuck behind Michael Bennett.

All true. I was disappointed with our DL though.

I agree. However, the Browns looked good today and have alot of WR's to throw at us. We'll see.

Fair enough, but......what if we lose?
Did you really want to be in a "must-win" situation against the friggin' BROWNS (who looked good beating up the overhyped Ravens today), at home, in week 2?
We have to win next week. Will Julius play? Will Lee get carries ahead of Richie Anderson? I didn't expect to beat the Vikings in the Dome, but short of Vinny, Keyshawn, and Rashard Lee, I am NOT happy with this performance today. Not one bit. And that goes for coaches as well as players.
Penalty after penalty on offense, awful tackling and just an overall aura of confusion on defense. Inexcuseable....I don't care how loaded the opponent supposedly is.

Woods, you also have to keep in mind that our DL was short handed missing our 2nd best DT.
I think alot of the trouble late in the game is Chad Eaton wore down, because we didn't have the depth at DT to keep him on the field for the about 20 plays that he was brought in here to play.

There are many good things to take from this game. Our offense is worlds what it was last year, from Testaverde to Johnson to Lee, ect. I have more confidence in our offense than I have since Aikman retired. Take away the fumbles and we might score a couple more TD's. We certainly moved the ball well the whole game.
Our defense is another story. Our CB's, more directly. Especially Hunter and the Rookies. Teams will gameplan to attack them from this point forward. We might have to outscore teams this year.

yeah things should get real better next week. Our great defense will probably only allow Jeff Garcia to throw 4 TD passes instead of 5. Im sure the d will find a new way to choke and lost the game next week to.

We might have to outscore teams??!!
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree that our offense looks vastly improved from anything we've seen since 1999, but let's be honest....Vinny, Key, and George/Lee are not anywhere near the class of guys like Pennington, Chad Johnson and Shaun Alexander. We need the D to tackle, make plays, and have a definite presence on the field. If we can get that, we might have a shot at the division this year.
If we have to "outscore" teams, we're screwed. Good lord, look at what Owens and Portis did today.

I think we'll learn a lot more about this team next week than we did today. If they can bounce back and beat the crap outta Cleveland, we'll be right back on track and the Vikings game will be old news.
Remember the Pats losing 31-0 to Buffalo in last year's opener? And of course, Dallas 13-27 vs the Vick-less Falcons?
So yes, next week definitely looks like "must-win" material. Especially for the D. If we lose....well then, it could be a long season. But I have a feeling the 'Boys will get it together and get the W.

I hope you're right, and I do think we'll beat the Browns....I just don't like being in this "must win" position right off the bat.
Even if the D had played reasonably well today, the coaching had been better and we still lost at Minnesota, next week wouldn't be so important.
A big win over Cleveland will indeed make things a LOT better, but we cannot look past them after their win today.....and I just hate knowing that if we turn in a similar performance as we did today, the season could get ugly real fast.

Wel, if Bill's game plan (the one that word for a quarter) had come through for four, that might have taken some heat off the secondary for the next few weeks.
I don't think there was ONE player on D today that could be said to have had a good game.
They'll all be throwing at us now, even more than they would have anyway.
In the post game radio show, it was clear Tuna knows he has to 'do something'.
