Andrews Out For Season
September 12, 2004
By DAVE SPADARO

The Eagles' injury bug continues to bite.

Rookie right guard Shawn Andrews suffered a fractured right leg in the first half of Sunday's game and will be out for the season.

Andrews was caught in a pile on a Brian Westbrook run in the second quarter. He was in immediate and obvious pain, and the Eagles training staff rushed onto the field to aid him.

Andrews was fitted with an air cast on the field, helped on a cart and taken in for X-rays.

Jermane Mayberry moved over from left guard to right guard and Artis Hicks stepped in at left guard in Andrews' absence.

The offense did not skip a beat.

The defense also suffered an injury, although it did not hamper things.

Cornerback Lito Sheppard suffered a broken thumb, but returned to action in the second half.

that's rough. two straight #1 draft picks for them out for their rookie season.

After the Irvin incident . . . Philadelphia is one team that I don't think any injury is unfortunate.

I don't neccessarily root for injuries . . . but I don't shed a tear when they suffer one either.
